Lunch in Houston *update*

Have to make a one day drive to Houston for business.
Need recommendations for lunch. I was thinking either BBQ or Mexican. Nothing fancy just something casual.
TIA
We decided on BBQ and went to The Pit Room. Very solid.
Mrs. Who ordered the 3 meat dinner with brisket, pork rib, and pulled pork. Sides were Mac n cheese and beans. The rib was the star of the plate. The brisket was ok with 2 of the slices being lean and somewhat dry. The 3rd slice was a fatty piece which was juicy and delicious. Mac n cheese was pedestrian and the beans were bit spicy for Mrs. Who.
I ordered one of each kind of taco and an order of of the okra. Each taco (pork, chicken, and beef)was dressed differently. Their tortillas were homemade which was a big plus for me. The pork taco was dressed with pickled onions, salsa verde, and cojita cheese (bottom right in the photo) was by far the best. The brisket was solid. I did not care much for the chicken. The grilled okra was excellent with a nice char flavor.
Thanks to everyone for the suggestions.

What part of Houston?
It all depends on the part of town or far you willing to travel.

I am not very familiar with Houston. Going to a bank on Gessner Rd. Since it’s a one day trip won’t have a terrible amount of time to travel very far out of the city.

There is an El Tiempo on Gessner...go there if you're looking for Mexican.
Roegles BBQ is on Voss and not too far off I-10.

You are crazy if you think beef fajitas from Lupe's aren't great.
I haven't eaten anything else from there but the beef fajitas are one of my favorite meals.

Yep.
Beef fajitas ... Lupes.
Chicken fajitas... Pappasitos.
They are chains and are not creative choices, but do you want good fajitas or not?

Has nothing to do with being a chain...objectively Lupe Tortilla is just not a good restaurant.
And certainly not somewhere I would send a visitor to.

This a lie best beef fajitas in town. They are always cooked perfectly. Now I have never had anything else there so their other food may be garbage

I’ve got to agree with you on Lupe. Overrated. I’d rather Pappasitos if choosing between the two.
But El Tempo is my favorite, especially for steak fajitas.

I will agree overall, but for beef fajitas they are great. And their bowl of beans/salsa is awesome. Everything else... Meh.
