Pellets are in the thread title...why not just skip the thread then Mr. Wood and Fire guy?

Toof - you ever used those Maple pellets? Curious how much actual maple flavor they impart.

because he thinks it's funny to bash pellet grills despite the proven results and a huge amount of people using them.

First 20x was ok now he just seems petty and mean spirited.

frick em

I just got them and both my hoppers are full. reviews say they do impart maple. plan to start with a fish.

I'm not really even sure what he means by that because pellet grills still use wood and flames

I don't understand it either but some people just like to bring their misery to other people.

Thanks for the heads up, I just ordered 100 lbs. myself. I did it online because only one store anywhere around me had them in stock. Now I just hope they actually fulfill the order and don't tell me they are sold out when I get there.

Yeah that sounds about right. I have 5 pits/smokers/grills. One is an offset stick burner. I love that thing. But one is a GMG Jim Bowie pellet. It beats the other 4 on chicken and turkey, hands down. They all have their place but when I want an easy, labor-free smoke, you just can't beat the pellet.

Good choice. Nice salmon slab would be interesting. Update with results my man.

There are certain aspects about running a stick burner that are lost when using a pellet grill. If you are new to BBQ a pellet grill will not allow you learn how to control your heat and circulation. That part is all automated, and you will be skipping this very challenging and rewarding step. You also order bags of pellets from Amazon instead of making local connections to source the wood. These folks are always interesting, sometimes freaky, and from my experience worth the effort to seek out.

If I ever went back to food service I'd do it 100% live fire for the show and also so I didn't feel like I was cheating anyone. At home and for family and friends I just want easy and good. Pellets are the hands down winner in this case.
