Eat real carbs in moderation and monitor caloric intake.

Cutting carbs cuts calories. Thermodynamics are simple. Calories in v. calories out.

If you are diabetic that’s one thing. If you think eating 2000 kcals of zoodles and cream sauce is any different than eating 2000 kcals of real pasta and protein makes a difference in weight control…you are scientifically and factually incorrect.

This is where you calories in/calories out people get weird. As if your body doesn’t react differently to 1000 calories of sugar as opposed to 1000 calories of beef. As if nutrients don’t play a role in overall health.

Check out Serious Keto's canned chicken noodles. They're easy to make and taste good.

So fruit/berries, sweet potatoes, beans, etc. are bad for you. Got it.

As long as you are getting the required micronutrients the rest doesn’t matter.

And from a purely weight perspective, macronutrients are irrelevant.

Spaghetti squash? I love it. But it’s nothing resembling pasta.

I make a baked SS casserole all the time. I love it. But you are right. It’s not the same.

We are sick of dog fans from other parts of the site, so there’s that. Haha!

Another option is cutting back on Goldfish, Pringles, Ritz and Lance crackers.

These are facts. Hell, your body reacts differently to 100 calories of Orange Juice then 100 calories of orange slices with pulp.

I should know better than to get involved. If you are trying to go Keto, do your research and go for it. We went Keto for a year and I lost over 60 pounds on it.

What I can tell you is when we slacked off, I almost couldn't eat carbs. They literally made me feel sick. I have a 40+ YO son who was pre diabetic and keto pulled his A1C numbers back in acceptable levels allowing his doctor to take him off medication.

I have no real desire to eat carbs anymore. We eat keto listed vegetables and protein much of the time now. When I don't, I feel it immediately.

My advice? Listen to everything you read here and then do what feels right to you, understanding no one but you needs to be making your food decisions. Don't worry about micro anything. You live in America and are not short of anything nutritionally, unless you are anorexic, or have a genetic metabolic problem. Doesn't matter at all, but my wife has a degree in nutrition.

I'm not trying to go keto and I'm not asking for dieting advice. I just want some decent recommendations for pasta substitutes, and people are arguing about the definition of the word "substitute" and other silly dumb bullshite. I'm not diabetic. Yes I eat pringles at the neighborhood pool once a week in the summer. Yes I'm looking for recommendations for pasta subs because I saw a great thread on it here not too long ago that I couldn't find. That was a great thread. Unlike this thread. I should have just posted this on the OT lounge, taken the first two pages of fat jokes, then actually get some good recs on page three.

One guy says artichoke hearts. Thanks to that one poster who actually offered a legitimate suggestion.

Might be this one.

By Darla

We used zucchini zoodles and Spaghetti squash. I never found a low carb pasta that wasn't very expensive and bad flavored.

Just cut your portion of pasta in half and add more meat/veggies to the meal.

That's not what I said of course (I assume that you know that, but you're just a little upset), although I don't eat beans. I'm not sure what they offer you that meat doesn't. I also find it funny how people complain about the gas they get from beans. Maybe that's your body's way of telling you something.

Fruit is good for you, but I eat it sparingly.

I enjoy red lentil pasta substitute, in fact had some tonight. High in fiber and protein. A little olive oil and parm. Quite nice.

Maybe include all that in the OP next time. This is an internet forum and you are getting pissy about people giving you differing information. First time here??? lol. As a previous poster said, you seem angry, you should eat some carbs and chill

ALDIs usually carries an edamame pasta that is pretty good. Also, TJ Max has this black bean pasta that is even petter. The lentil pastas are ok, but a little tough. Think very Al Dente. Probably an acquired taste
