Another lost restaurant in the nostalgia column is Cafe Ninos in the Carrollton area.

I just drove my wife out by west end last weekend and was reminiscing about all the old restaurants. Brunnings was the best, lots of great memories with my family at that place. I loved playing the baseball-pinball and bear shooting games in the bar when I was younger.
Then in high school spending summers at coconut beach and jumping off the bridge into the lake. Good times.

Might have had a nightclub on one side but I definitely remember eating there as a kid.

I think it was a teen night club after it was Sharkys Reef.
Can't believe Brunnings never tried making a go of it again after the hurricanes. Used to love going there.

It's not a restaurant, but the old McKenzie's on Harrison Avenue was my go to breakfast place.
Doughnut holes and a chocolate milk for .85 cents at the counter while you sat on the bar stools is a great memory.

It was both. After a certain time at night the food service stopped and it became a nightclub.

Yeah I miss that whole scene. Used to love riding my bike out there to play or watch v-ball and then hang out at the restaurants. Used to be a lot of boats show up and plenty of hot arse around.
Brisbi's and Blue Crab just don't do it for me. I miss the ole west end.

Got it. Well I can understand but they are missed. Me and my friends still talk about it.
