Looking for suggestions for Lafayette family reunion gathering

I have a family reunion coming up in July and looking for a cool restaurant for us to meet up at. We don't want chain restaurants, but some place with great food, great music and a nice place to chill and have a few beers. We've already done Prejean's, Poche's, Don's, Landry's and last year we went to Buck and Johnny's in Breaux Bridge and it was awesome. We love the hole in the wall restaurants and even some old cajun music wouldn't be bad either. If you can't wear shorts, a t-shirt and flip-flops, it ain't for us!

If buck and johnnys was good why dont you go back? I dont think you will really find that amosphere anywhere else.

I haven’t been to Pat’s in Henderson in years, but others on this board have said good things.
Now that Bon Temps Grill is in a bigger location they might be a good choice for a big group.

We may end up back at Buck and Johnny's, but since about half of us have moved way, we like hit different places that are very reflective of south Louisiana. When you move away, you miss the people and the culture of south Louisiana. We would love to find a hole-in-the-wall that also has an outdoor area to just relax and catch up with the family. We usually have about 40-ish every year.

DI’s in the Iota/T-Mamou/Basile area? Little Big Cup in Arnaudville? Landry’s in New Iberia? (Different from other Landry’s.)

Pat's in Henderson. Nice cool bar, inside dining and huge outside balcony overlooking the water. Don't fall in as there is usually a nice size gator lurking.
Get the crab cakes and seafood gumbo for appetizers and the camp style Etouffee (shrimp n lump crab) for main course.
Lil Big Cup in my hometown of Arnaudville. Rent the outdoor dining area overlooking Bayou Teche, or sit inside if too hot. Most of the food is outstanding.

I ate with a group of 8 friends at Pats of Henderson in February. It was ok, nothing to brag about or highly recommend.

Someone brought up Pat's, but several family members said it was good, but not great. I think a lot of them have already eaten there and just want to try something different.
Anybody know any restaurants in maybe Youngsville, Henderson or Broussard? We are all coming from different states, so if we find something not too far from Lafayette, that would be fine too.

The St. John Restaurant in St. Martinville

I would do Shucks.
We had about 30 the Wednesday night before thanksgiving, and it was awesome. They’ve added a covered outdoor pavilion, have a good size bar, live music outside on weekends, and the food can’t be beat.

Riverside may be a good option.

Cafe Jefferson on Jefferson Island. Overlooking Lake Peigneur, next to Rip Van Winkle Gardens.

What kind of restaurant is St. John's? Is it Cajun, Italian or do they serve a little of everything?

Thanks for info. I told my relatives about Jefferson Island and one is going to try it this weekend. TBH, I've never heard of Jefferson Island, but I moved away many, many years ago! Excited to see what they say!

Another relative helping me look for a great restaurant said someone she works with highly recommended Shucks! It's definitely in the running. Thanks for the suggestion because that sounds like exactly what we're looking for!
