It will be more fun if he comes back and tells us where they ended up eating. I'm betting it will be Sante Fe of El Gato Negro.
I suggest Red's Chinese, but I don't think he means that kind of Asian.

My girlfriend has celiac. Most restaurants offer at least a few dishes that are gluten free. However, the best we have found were.
- Mais arepas: Everything on the menu is Gluten free including desserts. Everything is made w corn flour. I love this place. Everything we have had has been very good.
- Meril: one of his daughters has celiac. They have gluten free pasta to sub for pasta dishes. Everything on menu was labeled. A lot of appetizers and entrees to choose from.
They accommodate instead of substitute (makes sense if you go to restaurants w someone who has a food allergy)
- Lola’s: a lot of appetizers are gluten free as well as the paella. Delicious. Small corkage fee so bring in your own bottle of wine.
- GW Fins: most of the menu can be made gluten free w eliminating some of the sauces used. Still good dishes and they don’t have to eliminate too much to where the original dish is unrecognizable.
Other suggestions: Maypop, Mopho, SukhoThai, La Boca, Mr. Johns, Compere Lapin

Go to any reputable restaurant and let your server know. Good chefs are usually prepared for requests like that.
One, for example, is Meauxbar. They make the entire menu with ridiculous food allergy requests in mind so they can pivot to accommodate.

Don’t know about GF, but I only make reservations a day or two out. Don’t listen to these people
When you find a place you want to go to, pick up the phone and call, I can almost guarantee they will be able to fit a two top in.

How the frick does so many people have this allergy yet it is said to only affect less than 1% of the population? Not to mention 10yrs ago we didn't even hear the word gluten. This shite is like the ADHD of this generation

I was going to suggest Marjie's.

I tend to agree with this. I've heard that the tables available on open table aren't always accurate and calling is the best bet if the place appears to be full up.
I don't think it's a crazy busy weekend in the city.

So bc its a new found medical condition, the symptoms ppl were experiencing for years but didn’t know what was causing it, means that it’s a fake diagnosis/allergy? Medical research is constantly advancing believe or not. I would have tended to agree with you before I started dating my current GF. However, I’ve seen first hand how sick she gets if she gets cross contamination from something she eats. She’s super disciplined w/ her diet. As long as she eliminates all gluten, she’s fine. As opposed to an ADHD diagnosis which a medication is pushed, celiac can be kept under control with just diet. So there’s no agenda w a physician diagnosing someone to push a certain medication

Probably because other than celiac/wheat there is no evidence of a 'gluten allergy'
Probably is just something that was triggered by vaccines

The red head guy who the restaurant is named after and went to culinary school in China left. wtf

Tobias. Like I said, left a long time ago. Didn't know he went to China for culinary. Thought it was in NYC OJT.
He appears to be finding himself in Alaska or something. Living off the land.

You're probably right. I thought i remember one of the waitress telling our table he went to culinary school in China. She was probably talking out of her arse, you can't trust those Bywater brats.

I don't know how it was set up. I think maybe the chick had the money and he had the brawn.
Doesn't seem like he left on bad terms, but the last few months he didn't seem as happy as when things first started. Maybe it was nothing though.
He seemed to run a great team. Always was teaching the guys who worked with him.

I've been a few times in group settings and I feel like he's always added on a few extra dishes at no charge. He always talked to you when you walked in as well, he did not come off as a pretentious chef at all.

Got a reservation for Kingfish for Saturday. Found it in Open Table (thanks Louisiana Lady). She’s in the mood for fish, and the hostess said they make quite a few gluten free dishes. So we’re doing that.
