Looking for breakfast/lunch recs in Houston

Heading down to Houston Saturday AM-Monday PM with the wife to meet with some potential employers. Arrive early Saturday morning and they're taking us to Haywire for brunch and then Saturday dinner at Rainbow Lodge. Sunday night game at the Space Cowboys.
Looking for breakfast/lunch recs and any must eat dishes at either of the restaurants we're going if applicable. Staying at Hotel ZaZa. Current plan is to check out Montrose, The Heights, Rice Village, and maybe Memorial area for potential housing.

and they are taking you to a space cowboys game in sugar land? not the astros?
anyway, like someone said, Loro is good and in the heights and rice village now.
Around your hotel Credence is really good and just opened. Goode Company Cantina, Pit Room

Astros were the plan but don’t think they want to fly all of us to Boston this weekend

Breakfast is easy. Find a busy gas station and hit up the food truck parked there. Can’t go wrong. Some of the best breakfast tacos and salsas are at those trailers.

Go to Harry’s Diner in Midtown for breakfast or CasaEma in the Heights for breakfast…Candente, Ostia, or Clark’s in the Montrose for lunch…Local Foods, Hungry’s or Hudson House for lunch in Rice Village…Maximo for brunch in West U…bummer about Rainbow Lodge…much butter restaurants out there.

Hopefully this lowering my expectations will make it seem better

I mean it’s fine…it’s been over a year since I’ve been there and I live about 5 minutes away in Rice Military…it’s just never a place that’s on our radar simply because there are just much better places at that price point.
But, you’re not paying, enjoy the free dinner…have a drink at the tied fly bar, order some tator tots and caviar.

Walk across the lawn in front of Zaza to Credence. They've got a great bar and even better martinis. Start with the Deviled Crab and Parisa. The Pork Rib Chop Schnitzel with a side of Hearth Roasted Cabbage is hard to beat. Their weekend brunch serves the best cinnamon rolls and biscuits in town.

Wife and I went there one night and we liked it.
But lunch…if you’re around Rainbow Lodge area, I’m a fan of Hughie’s. The smell and flavor of their fried rice is incredible. Nice draft beer selection too.

Agree with Loro and Hughies.
La lucha is a go-to of ours now

For lunch, just find a top end BBQ joint. They're sprinkled all over Houston.
