Im headed to N.O. with a date sat night. Looking for an upscale quiet place away from the quarter.
Wine and martini type.

I like the bar at the Windsor Court.

These may occasionally get noisy but I recommend The Columns, Delachaise, Bouligny Tavern or Cure. Loa is definitely quiet in my experience but it is closer to the Quarter.

Carousel Bar
Davenport Lounge at Ritz Carlton

ETA: Crap, didn't see you wanted away from the FQ. FWIW I'd still prefer these two places over the others.

I get lucky, well, sometimes, after Ms. Geauxt and I leave there... Most of the time, dammet...

The night I went it wasn't too bad. Perhaps I need to see it on a more regular night.

I tend to avoid it altogether now. loud, too dark, and can get pricey if you have to buy a girls martinis all night

true that. although last time I went there it seemed like they wouldn't walk further than 10 feet from the door. it was kind of like how they won't walk past the first 2 blocks of Bourbon

I enjoy a lot of the places listed. I also prefer going to Davenport's show at the Ritz. We go early and get a couch. Good music, reasonable drinks and free validated parking @ the Ritz.

Agree with most suggestions but disagree with these two. Any nice uptown restaurant will have an upscale bar.
