It's a melt. Not a grilled cheese.

And yet the simple concept of what does or does not constitute a grilled cheese continues to elude you.

Google “grilled cheese”, and look at recipes, there are thousands, with and without meats, tomatoes, etc.
just like many threads on the FB, some guys think their answer is the only correct answer. People get their noses bent way too easy, out of shape on this board.

I asked for a sandwich recipe, and because it didn’t fall into some people’s definition, they go ape shite, calling me the smart arse.

Hang on, you’re telling me if I google “grilled cheese” that THOUSANDS of hits will come up? Oh, well that absolutely makes it different from every other google search on the planet.

Read the topic to the thread you posted. You quite literally asked for a “grilled cheese sandwich” recipe. Not a “sandwich recipe”.

Seriously. You’re the fricking worst. I hate that you procreated.

Yes I did, but I’m sorry my definition of a grilled cheese sandwich differs from some people here. I was looking for something along the lines of a conque monsieur (and that’s what I’ve decided on to make). It’s a French grilled cheese sandwich with ham, and bechamel and cheese on the outside.
Is it a grilled cheese? I say yes, many videos I watched called it that, but since the FB says it’s not, the world is coming to an end because I say it is.

My original question was a legit question. I was looking for a “knock out of the park” grilled cheese sandwich. Most replies were very basic sandwiches, sounded good, but not what I was looking for. I than found the conque monsieur.

That’s all I did

Then ask for a croque monsieur (which is not a grilled cheese) recipe. And I don’t need a lesson on what a croque monsieur or madame is, I’m familiar.

I agree.

Clearly you weren’t.

Me. I’m-Right-Always, so you are telling me any one that answered to this thread with anything other than bread, cheese, and butter is wrong? I got replies of mayo, bacon, tomato, jalapeño, and pimento cheese. So all these people are wrong too?

I've tried the mayo method (as in on the outside) and it gets pretty solid results

It’s not a grilled cheese sandwich if it has mayo!!!

(I’m being sarcastic, btw)

Seriously, how in the hammered shite did this thread turn into such a pissing match?

This reminds me of the Texas chili thread where I was such an obstinate a-hole

There’s a few guys on the FDB who think their answers to any question is the only true answer, and everyone else are idiots.

You asked for grilled cheese recipes. Then when you get them, you say "When I said a grilled cheese, I was talking along the line of Croque Monsieur," only to be surprised when you start catching shite. And you call everyone else the idiots

THANK YOU.

For the record, I don’t give a shite how anyone makes a grilled cheese. Live your life.

But when a poster who notoriously asks dumb questions asks a simple one, then complicates it by revealing that he didn’t want what he was asking for, it’s annoying.

You want a croque monsieur recipe? No problem. But don’t ask for a damn grilled cheese recipe.

Dude, you are just like your mother’s herpes, just won’t go away.
If I knew I wanted a conque monsieur when I started the the thread, I would have asked for a conque monsieur recipe. And conque monsieur IS a grilled cheese sandwich.

What part of this don’t you understand?

Didn't you say you consider those other sandwiches to be grilled cheese because of the way they're made?

If that is your definition, croque monsieur isn't that either.

You posted a pic from Bon Appetit. Their recipe for Croque Monsieur says to bake it in the oven.

So you contradicted your own self.

If you were wondering if this response was bump-worthy, the answer is no.
