I got this one

Mushroom Stuffed with Shrimp & Crab Meat Au Gratin

But there's also

quote:

Mushroom Stuffed with Green Onion Sausage

My only word of warning is not to get anything jalapeno unless you have a much higher tolerance for them than average. We love jalapenos but the stuffed ones AND the jalapeno burger patties were basically inedibly hot.

I like most stuffed mushrooms anyway

So do I. When I was a youngster and Ralph and Kacoo's was a decent place to eat, I always had the seafood stuffed mushrooms in the wine and butter sauce. The recipe is in their cookbook. I've made a modified version of it many times. I cook the mushrooms in the wine and butter in a pot first. I use that the mushroom liquor mixed into the butter and wine in the mixture and also spoon it over the mushrooms when I bake them. Rich as the dickens, but so good.

I have both the seafood and the sausage stuffed, but I'm going with the seafood this weekend.

I have found that the recommendation of the store is not always the best method or temp for some items.

The law should require that whoever writes those directions actually cook the item in accordance and eat the result.

I find that many of the label instructions will lead to woefully under-cooked food.

A few bites of raw chicken might get them to start being honest.

I don’t know if this is better or worse than inaccurate instructions, but I hate when they give you none.

With these in particular, 350 is likely fine too. Heck, I might have done 350. Thanksgiving prep night involved a bottle of wine.

Here’s a picture of the frozen mushrooms. I put a quarter in it so you could see the size. They’re huge.

I realize you are small, but A single bottle?

That’s a random Tuesday night; not thanksgiving prep

The size was a reason I was so interested in the cook temp. The mushrooms are also raw.

One mushroom is almost an entree for me. I’m talking big!

ETA: There are 5 mushrooms in the pack at almost 2 lbs. The seafood are $11.99 per lb. The sausage are $9.99 lb.

For some reason, the photo makes parts look darker than they were. There were no burned areas.

Decided to bake them in a convection oven on 350. Baked for about 35 minutes. Bacon was crispy and the filling held up nicely. It wasn't dry at all.

There were a good bit of small shrimp in the filling. We didn't detect any crabmeat to speak of, but the filling is tasty. I would have preferred to have a bit more mushroom juice. These weren't out of this world, but I would buy them again.

I baked the other two differently. I melted some butter in a small casserole dish with some Meyer lemon juice. Added the mushrooms to the dish and pulled back the bacon to spoon some butter over the top. Put the bacon back in place and baked at 350 for about 35 minutes or so. Butter browned nicely and there was a good bit of mushroom juices. The mushrooms were also more tender. The mixture of the butter, lemon and mushroom juices greatly enhanced the flavor. I'll do that again.

$12/lb for white mushrooms that bake to look like excrement. Thanks for your contribution.

For someone whose schtick is an over the top religious weirdo, you sure are a jerk to people.

Then again, that actually wouldn't be too far off.
