Anyone else like it now and then?

They do it pretty well, imo.

No.

Do you have to be old to eat at the Piccadilly now and then?

Not necessarily, but is it still good. For the record, I am 40 and I have very fond memories of Piccadilly. That being said, it was already starting to go downhill the last time I ate there, which was around 15 years ago.

I only stop by maybe once a month (on Mondays) for a take out plate of liver and onions.

Can't tell you much about how they are doing. Never a big crowd when I stop by there.

Haven't been since they closed Govt Street Location.

Miss Henry Gray on the piano.

But could go for some liver and grits about right now.

The oval chopped beef patty and the square fish were always a hit with me. Ettoufee once was best ever but chinese crawfish changed that. I stop in about 1-2 times a year.

I'm not a fan of liver and onions, but I am a fan of the Piccadillys roast beef, especially when cooked medium rare or medium.

The Essen Lane location used to serve a great homemade chicken fried steak. Now, they serve a frozen patty. Just not the same.

Same can be said for their rolls. Used to be made from scratch. Not anymore.

I agree with the OP. It's pretty good...since my Mom died, going to Picadilly is the only time I have liver and onions.

I wish I knew how to cook it...

When I was about 15 or 16, I lived on their chopped steak, their roast beef and their ettoufee.

I still like cafeterias every now and then. Luby's has solid chicken fried steak and fried fish. Always had them a notch ahead of Picadilly and Furr's.

When I was in law school their ettoufee was pretty damned good.

I like their version, although sometimes their liver can be pretty darn liver-y. Give me the l&o, Neptune salad, carrot soufflé, Mac n' cheese, a roll, and a dessert and I'm good to go. I used to love me some Morrison's Cafeteria back in the 80s.

I've always liked it. My grandma is the one that made it for me first. Hers was obviously better, but Picadilly will do in a pinch when I get a craving.

FWIW, I'm well under 40
