On a hot day, gin & tonic is my go-to.

In the winter, I go with OF or manhattans.

Campari is so versatile I keep a bottle at all times. Negroni when I want to get fancy

I find Campari is very polarizing. People either love it, or hate it.

What gin and vermouth do you use in your Negroni? For a Negroni, I actually prefer Tanqueray to the Hendrick’s I used last night, but I didn’t have any. Hendrick’s is a much softer gin and I think the Campari just mows it over. Similarly, I think Carpano Antica— which is fantastic in whiskey cocktails— is a little too much in a Negroni. I sometimes keep a 375 of a less rich sweet vermouth (think M&R) in the fridge for them, but I was out of that as well. Ah well, adapt and overcome.

I love a “Naked & Famous” and my husband loves when I drink them. He likes to say, “I don’t need you to be famous, but I want you to be naked!
Equal parts Mezcal, Aperol, Yellow Chartreuse, and Lime Juice.

Happy Friday everyone! Let’s get things going.

The High Noon

The original uses mezcal, which I find a bit too smoky for this application, as it tends to overpower the grapefruit. A reposado strikes a perfect balance for my taste, but try both and decide for yourself.

I made one for the wife (no pics) as well. Let’s see if it makes her clothes fall off.

Cheers!

-1.5 oz Espolon Reposado
-1 oz grapefruit juice
-.5 oz Cointreau
-.5 oz Campari
-orange or grapefruit swath for garnish

Shake all liquid ingredients with ice and strain into chilled glass. Garnish with an orange or grapefruit peel

in the summer we go thru a bottle of Campari in a week. That Campari/soda/lemon cocktail is so good and so refreshing. For Negroni I use empress gin

What do you use to peel the fruit for your drinks? Looks to be micro thin.

I’m a gin person as well. I’m kinda boring with my cocktails. My perfect martini is Monkey 47 (but currently doing Beefeater or Citadel), heavy splash of Dolin, orange bitters, and a lemon or orange twist.

Otherwise - Lately I’ve been on an espresso martini kick. I don’t have an espresso machine, but I just use cold brew.

Standard vegetable peeler. The trick is using room temp citrus.
