Table for my kettle in the back courtyard.

It looks great! You can cook anything on a Weber kettle. That's got to be at least $600 in lumber. Did you hit the lottery or something?

Thompson's waterproof stain. free leftover from other projects
Whatever the gas for 6-8 trips to Lowes cost me. I gage the success of any woodworking project by how many Lowes trips it took. This one was above average.
That's pretty close.
I will probably add a 3-4 inch skirt around top.

Good job, MD! The table looks great! Are you going to stain/seal it? After all that work I sure would, as it will add years to the life of your table.

Yes I am going to seal it with stain. Still need to do a little sanding, then hopefully finish the project with waterproofing stain. I like the color of the stain shown in these two other benches I made and the decking in my meditation garden so I will use it again. The Kettle grill bench area is mulched and the stain color will go well with that.

That looks really nice, MD. My wife and I have always preferred dark stain on wood.

Finished my project today. Sanded with belt sander, then stained.

Aubie - The wife is a plumbers daughter. We have that kind of work whipped when we go to Lowes. Funny story - we were at the Meridian Lowes one time and there was a guy walking the isles of the plumbing supplies row. He was obviously very lost. I asked him what he was doing and he told me, then held out several parts. He said, "I don't know what I need." The wife said, "Let me help."
He looked at her like, "Sure little lady. Whatever you say." She began to start pulling stuff out of the bins, saying, "you need one of these and two of these and one of these..." His big guy smile dissolved and he said, "These will accomplish what I need. How do you know this stuff?" She told him her dad was a plumber and she spent most of her childhood putting away the plumbing parts from his work box each day and his work truck on Saturdays.
IMO, having a good looking cheerleader wife who was a plumbers daughter and smart in a thousand subjects is the way to go.
3oliv3 - The plans came from my head, which is a scary place you don't want to spend much time in. The help I have is back in college days, I was a Journeyman carpenter in the Jackson Carpenter's Union. Not scared on any carpenter work, just not as strong as I once was.
LBoogie - Our house is different. It is a patio home, with four private walled gardens. Front, Back, Meditation (off the entry hall) and one off our bathroom. Lots of privacy, which we like and they cut my front yard grass. None of the privacy gardens have grass, only front yard.

I’m not so sure that is going to work. The outside of a kettle can get around 600 deg. It’s not like a ceramic grill. You may have some smoking cedar

That looks really good. All that's left is to stain and water seal. Maybe add some hooks to the front or sides to hang utensils.
