We are looking for a place for a group of parents, friends, and players to meet and eat in New Orleans after the game Saturday night. The game is scheduled for 7 but may start late.

Oceana's is open till 1:00am. We like it but some on here say it is a tourist trap.

Looking for recommendations. Could be 20 to 40 people.

If that's for The HS football state championships they are notorious for starting late. Might want to eat in the Dome or before the game.

Seaworthy

Had an amazing meal there last Friday. Great cocktails. Their black drum is heavenly. Ace hotel has a lively bar next door

ETA: just saw your number of 20-40 people which could be a problem

What team are you with?

This may get downvoted, but I’d suggest trolley stop on st Charles. Quick, cheap and quality breakfast and hot plates.

Yep, late night, that many people at once. I can think of a few places open, but they are more or less like 24 hour diners and such, but not many restaurants that late.

You know the games will run late too.

Where y’all driving back to?

Might make more sense to stop in Metairie at a place like City Diner or Waffle House. Tho there is a Waffle House on canal pretty close to dome

City Diner

That place would shut down if they brought 40 people in there at once!

20-40 dining at once with no private room should be interesting. There is a new Mahoney's Po-boys in the FQ that has the space and is open until 11pm.

La Boca is open late. Website says midnight. I know it was a late night spot at their old location, I’d assume this one is as well.

Order for the table, get everything served family style and go to town.

late night meal
unknown arrival time at restaurant
unknown number of diners
mixture of kids & adults

so you need a place thats open late, where you can just walk in with that sized group and be seated and that will have the wherewithal to feed everyone on all separate checks

you have two options:
1) eat before the game
2) go to a waffle house

nothing against waffle house, i eat there late nite all the time. just understand that you are asking for recommendations for a situation that has very, very little in the way of viable options

i do have one other to recommend though...st charles tavern at 1433 st charles ave. 24/7, mixture of breakfast and dinner items, casual, used to crowds, affordable and will be big enough to accomodate the group at separate tables. it's a classic "eggs & beer" place

Went to Waffle House last night after the Pels game. That grilled chicken biscuit with a little white gravy to dip it in was absolutely incredible.

I understand it's not August's or Restaurant Revolution, and they had that insane episode of Kitchen Nightmares filmed there, but I have never had anything remotely close to a bad meal there. Every time I've gone, the service has been fast and the food has been solid. It's not a place I would recommend to people, but not a place I would steer them away from either, especially late at night when there aren't nearly as many options open.

I’d eat at the game. 20-40 people is a lot of people to just show up somewhere all at once unannounced, and being late at night makes it even more difficult.

You should have rented a room or something. Plan a celebration banquet for another day.

The staff would start offing themselves in the dining room if a party of 40 football players and parents came fumbling in at 11:30PM unannounced. I also imagine a restaurant like that preps for what’s on the book, and a reasonable number of walk-ins.

Ya the service blows lol, but they could fit everyone prob if it were closer to 20-25 peeps

Figure by the time game ends, winner presentation, players get changed, mingling, it’s gonna be super late.

Maybe in NYC you could find a lot of options for 20-40 at 1am but not in NOLA.
