La23 and Gonzo are turning out some really quality bbq. Good to see there is a solid community being built between them all.

Gonzo’s & Blue Oak slice their brisket a little thicker which I prefer, but LA-23 is well worth the trip for brisket & sausage

The smoked turkey is sneaky good too

turkey is just hard to do anyway, I’d be skeptical. Hard to not dry out turkey

If you want to try at home:
1hr at 250, then wrap for another hour.
Moist turkey breast with a decent smoke.

As for la23, easily the best in the area.

I was in the area yesterday and planned on stopping but the line was too long for my time schedule, this was around 11am.

Blue Oak, Joint and CCBBQ are too inconsistent to be good. Blue oak is best known for their non-bbq items. CCBBQ has won at competition, but their daily is meh. Joint was great in 2010.

They have some great shakes.

You seem like a BBQ connoisseur. Who has the best fatty point brisket around? I’m not a big fan of the flat.
