Kitchen Disaster, what's yours?

This is more of a mini-disaster, my wife is on a cruise so I'm batching it this week. I like to treat myself well, so while I was out I picked up a couple of pounds of nice shrimp. I debated over several things to do with them, but in the end decided on just a simple shrimp remoulade.
I like a mayo based remoulade, so I put 2 yolks in the food processor, added lemon zest and juice, S&P, and slowly poured in the vegetable oil, a beautiful mayo. I added the seasoning and veggies and tasted, horrible. I smelled the vegetable oil, yep, rancid. Best if used by Feb 2020.
I used the last of my green onions and lemon, so I ended up with a Greek shrimp salad and 3 cups of bad sauce washed down the drain.

I don’t cook much. Only thingI have is from several years ago I tried to make this microwave yourself cracking thing. I of course overlooked them and stunk the hell out of my kitchen

Caramel cake icing. It’s an old school southern recipe, cooked on the stovetop. I’ve attempted it three or four times, and it always hardens in the pan before I can get it on the cake, like one big giant praline, caked inside a saucepan.

latest would be this week. Thought I had washed the soap out of the pot I was using and made a beef stew and it tasted like soap. Wife is still mad at me.

Our last beach trip, I spent a ridiculous amount of money on a gorgeous, two inch thick ribeye to cook for our last night at the condo. Put the cast iron skillet on the electric stove thinking no way it would get hot enough for a good sear. Not only did it get hot enough, it got as white hot as I’d ever seen a cast iron skillet get. I put some canola oil on the steak with S&P, then put just a bit of oil in the skillet...it was so hot, the oil immediately congealed into a substance I’ve never seen oil turn into. I was like “nah, it’ll be fine,” so I put the steak in there. I’ve also never seen a steak smoke so much in my life. It immediately filled up the kitchen with eye burning smoke, and the smoke detector at the condo went off in seconds.
Even with opening the balcony door and the large double door entrance of the condo, it took my buddy and our wives standing on chairs, fanning the smoke detectors for about fifteen minutes to keep the smoke detectors from continuing to sound. Smoke everywhere, all the kids crying from the smoke detector horn going on and off during the fanning. All the while, I’m trying to finish the steak in on the stovetop, then in the oven. It was smoking so badly, I just threw it in the oven to finish. The steak was so thick, it wouldn’t get close to coming to temp as fast I’m used to, I said frick it, and took over fanning the smoke detector. Then I waited too long to go back to check the steak. Cooked a beautiful ribeye to about 165, and ruined our last meal at the beach.

After Katrina we got all new appliances. Got a fancy digital microwave to replace the one with a timer that we got as a wedding present(was a westighouse that still worked great at the time). Wanted to reheat some beans, set it for 10 minutes instead of 1(I may have been a little buzzed). Beans caught on fire, then the microwave, burned the counter top, set off smoke detectors and left the smell of burnt plastic in the house for days. Brought it back to Sears and told them it was defective. Got a new one.

Watched Alton Brown make a smoothie with the blender lid off so the camera could look into it.
I tried it. There’s still purplish spots on my kitchen ceiling.

Nearly burned down my parents house during my aunt and uncles wedding reception.
I was maybe 4 years old playing in the kitchen before the wedding, etc. I had been acting like I was cooking and put some oven mitts in the oven. Well, a few hours later the caterers arrive and pre-heat the oven. By time people wondered where the smoke was coming from, the oven mitts caught fire.
Luckily people were able to get them outside before they caught anything else on fire

Think my worst mistake ever was thinking I was on the series chopped... I had the bright idea that a lot of flavors I enjoyed was taste good together so I mixed them all... turned out horrible. Probably wasted 50+ in groceries as well between the meats/veggies/etc

not sure why it was changed to a ?
essentially I mixed a lot of different types of meats, veggies, and sauces and it turned out horrible for all involved.
