I say "new" because, honestly, it tastes like ole Bud Ice [from what I recall], and the bottle looks like a Zima. But, hey it is 6% ABV. Allegedly, they were targeting the craft beer market, but I think they really might be targeting the urban (not the cowboy) and club crowd.

They should just stop. They'll never tap that market.

eta: The craft market that is.

A distribution guy told me yesterday that it "doesn't taste like beer" ? Does it, why the hell would they make another Zima ?

People had a problem with it? I didn't personally. It was just heavier than light but not as heavy as Bud, imo. I think it just didn't have a target market.

Yea that won't be successful. They need to target this to the club scene like you already mentioned.

It taste like a beer; it is just in a Zima looking bottle.

It taste nothing like Zima or other flavored malt beverages.

Seemed like the target was the "club" market mentioned in this thread, even if unintentionally.

Now Bud Dry...I'm not quite sure where they were going with that. I guess the Natty crowd.

Nothing like the 55. If you mean the low cal stuff. The low cal stuff has a low ABV, which means you have to drink twice as many. BLP has a higher ABV than regular bud light and Bud, and its calories are in the middle of the two.

Honest impression, not sure. Like I said in the OP, reminds me of ole Bud Ice, but not as skunky tasting. It does NOT taste like Budweiser. It taste somewhere between the light and heavy. Blind tasted a friend just now, and he thought it was PBR, without any idea what it could be.

It has a flavor to it that I can't quite pinpoint yet.

C'mon. It's obvious that that is Exactly their strategy.
Look at the signs.
Name-"platinum" (who do we know that is extremely fond of platinum?)
Clear, sapphire bottle- designed to be seen, sets itself apart from other beers. (flashy, "bling-bling"
Marketed as a luxury product (high dollar =high value=exclusivity. Think crystal, Hennessy, hypnotiq etc.)
now, if some rapper mentions it in a rap, then...

C'mon

I'll give it a shot, but it's hard to beat BUD for domestic 'drinking' beers.

My friend guessed PBR, but said it had a wheat taste to it. So, I can see that. It definitely has a distinct flavor in it that I can not pinpoint.
