Here are a few of my tried and true recipes:

Roast:
Roast stuffed with garlic slivers
2 can Tomato Soup
1 can Beef Broth
2 envelopes Onion Soup Mix
Veggies
Black pepper
Cook on low 6-8 hrs.
(don’t freak about the tomato soup, it will not taste like tomatoes but will make a kick arse gravy brown gravy)

Creamy Italian Chicken:

boneless skinlesschicken breast halves
1 envelope dry Italian salad dressing mix
1/4 cup water
8 ounces cream cheese -- softened
1 can cream of chicken soup -- undiluted
4 ounces can mushroom stems and pieces -- drained
Hot cooked rice or pasta
Place the chicken breast halves in the crock pot. Combine the Italian dressing mix and water until smooth; pour over top of chicken. Cover; cook on low for 3 hours.

Combine the cream cheese and soup until smooth and blended. Stir in mushroom pieces. Pour soup mixture over chicken. Cook 1 hour more or until chicken is cooked through. Serve over hot cooked rice or pasta

Chicken & Stuffing Crockpot

1 pkg Stove Top Stuffing (dry)
1 little package of spices/herbs that may still come with your stuffing mix
1 can cream of mushroom
1/2 cup water
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts

Mix first four ingredients together (I just did it in the crock pot) place defrosted chicken on top and cook on low for 7 hours.

Chicken Coke Crockpot...
Chicken breasts (frozen or thawed)
1 cup Ketchup
1 can soda (diet or regular)
Put it in crock pot in am...cook until dinner.
It sounds gross, but REALLY it is great!

Spinach soufflé

20 oz Frozen Chopped Spinach, Thawed & drained
16 oz small curd cottage cheese
1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
3 eggs lightly beaten
¼ cup butter cubed
¼ cup flour
1 teaspoon salt
Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl. Pour into a greased slow cooker. Cover and cook on high for 1 hour. Reduce heat to low and cook 4-5 hours longer or until a knife inserted comes out clean

Lasagna Crock-Pot

1 lb. ground beef 1 onion, chopped
1/8 tsp. garlic powder 2 - 15 oz. cans tomato sauce
6 oz. can tomato paste 1-1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. dried oregano 2 oz. carton cottage cheese
12 oz. lasagna noodles, uncooked 12 oz. shredded mozzarella cheese 1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese

Brown ground beef and onion in skillet. Add garlic powder, tomato sauce, tomato paste, salt and oregano. Cook long enough to get it warm. Spoon a layer of sauce onto the bottom of the Crock Pot. Add a double layer of uncooked lasagna noodles (break to fit) and top with cheeses. Repeat with sauce, noodles and cheeses until all are used up. Cover and cook on low for 6 - 8 hours.

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork
Ingredients:
· 4 lb pork roast
· 2 onions, sliced, divided
· 1 onion, chopped
· 1 bottle of root beer
· 16 oz bottle of your favorite BBQ sauce
· salt and pepper

Preparation:
Place one whole sliced onion at the bottom of Crock Pot.
Place a seasoned roast in slow cooker on top of the sliced onion. Cover with the second sliced onion and add the root beer
Cover and cook on low 8 to 12 hours.
Remove roast. Remove and discard bone and fat as well as root beer, onions and grease remaining in pot.
When pork roast is cool enough to handle, use a fork or your fingers to pull it apart until the entire roast is shredded.
Return the pulled pork to the crockpot. Mix in the chopped onion and BBQ sauce and cover. Heat on high for 1-2 hours or until the onions are soft.

I bet their sales have gone up when the economy tanked. (of course if you buy one they seem to last a while) But Im sure many people dusted off the crock pot to allow for simpler cooking instead of dinning out all the time.

The best thing about a Crock Pot is that your house will smell great when you get home and have a home cooked meal ready for you.. Thats why I call it a Good-Wife..

20 hrs is too long, unless you are smoking one big arse brisket.

Crock pots are amazing for my wife and me. I work at least 8 hours and then usually ride anywhere from 1-3 hrs. in the afternoon. She is in Med School, and though she is an amazing cook, she doesn't have a lot of time to cook. The crockpot is clutch. One of us preps the stuff in the morning and we start it about 11:00-12:00 dinner is ready about 6:00-8:00 depending the meal. Just google whatever kind of meals you're in to. We always google low fat slow cooker recipes.

Here's a question for you crock pot gurus. Can I cook a whole chicken in a crock pot? I have one in the fridge that i was just going to bake. But, i started thinking about how tender the roasts and other meals turned out after cooking in a crock pot. I'm considering trying to cook the whole chicken in the crock pot. Any ideas ? Any reason this can't be done? Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere so , i figured i'd ask.
