Wife and I went to Superior Grille around 2pm to eat and drink for CDM. When I received the bill, I noticed I was charged $19 for a large strawberry margarita in a styrofoam cup and a “Dine In” charge of $12.19. I really like the place and eat there twice a month. But felt this was nothing more than price gouging.

Did you tell them to take that shite off the bill?

I don’t understand. One large margarita was $19 and they charged you a $12.19 fee just for dining in? Was that a percent of the bill like a tip? If so, what was the percent?

I didn’t feel right not leaving our waitress a nice tip. She was very attentive. But I sensed her being nervous when she left the bill. Wasn’t her fault

Who do you think rang you up? You really didn't even question such a nonsense charge?

some other cities use that "dine in charge" and apply it to a living wage.

Was there signage about the fee? I would have never paid that without asking about it first. And letting them know I'll never be back if that's how they do business.

Can someone please explain this to me. Why are they charging you rent for a table or booth if you ordered food?

$67.70
$12.19 is 18% - could that have been an automatic tip described as “dine in charge”?
Least they should do is explain it to you when presented the bill.

Is this a normal thing at Superior or just for today? I guess you have to pay a premium to get in to Superior on May 5th. If I had noticed it I would have called the manager over and had it removed. I wouldn’t have punished the waitress but I wouldn’t have paid it. Raise enough hell and the manager would have taken care of it.

Since it came out to 18% then maybe it’s an odd way of making sure everyone tips today? I’m sure lots of people get stupid drunk and don’t tip. They could handle it differently and the waitress should let you know that tips are included on CDM.

Pick and choose your battles. They were extremely busy so I get it. Waitress was busting her arse trying to take care of everybody. But will be a while before I eat there again.

Negative.. Nothing to let you know of the fee. I checked as I was walking out. Saw a friend and his wife eating there. Same thing on their bills.

Is this like the Chimes East “dine in charge” after 8pm?

Everything in this country is regulated to the max, you would think there’s a regulation against this and it would be illegal to add a fee without having it stated on the menu as their “terms and conditions”.

Where’s the consumer protection board or whatever organization they have? You would think some group like that could fine a restaurant for something like this.

I guess the ultimate fix would be to stop going to the restaurant, but that’s not going to happen to Superior, so it is what it is.

AN 18% bogus charge is a battle I'll pick every time. They keep doing bullshite like this because people are too nervous to speak up. frick that

That’s my guess. And for the same reason on 5/5.

Probably a built in tip today. I would have just asked if that’s what it was before essentially tipping $38%.
