So when you say something it is an opinion and we should just take it, but when someone else says something it is slander?

You still have not answered the question, are you related to him, personal friends of his, in business with him, work for him, etc?

FWIW I have enjoyed your tips and recipes and hope you continue to post, I also enjoy a lot of stuff about John Folse

You are such a wuss. This board is ABOUT opinions. This is where we discuss food. We don't have to go tell the restaurant or the chef what we think. We are free to discuss it here. Otherwise, there would be no need for a board. You can't grasp this, I realize.

Some people like some foods, restaurants, chefs and some do not. They are all free to opine.

YOU are shouting SLANDER. You gonna respond to that? What a stupid thing to say. Talk about going overboard.

No I don't, but do you really have to work for someone or be related to someone to respect their accomplishments? I have met him and other great Louisiana chefs and I hold them and their work in high regard. I also beleive in the common sense approach. If I have a bad experience with a product I let the store or company know about it. Again only my opinion.

I have a feeling someone is about to get a letter from a lawyer soon regarding this thread.

You can respect a chef and still not like every single thing the chef puts out there.

I don't take kindly to being accused of slander.

By the way, which of his frozen products have you had and what was your OPINION?

Anyone want to start a pool on how long this thread is allowed to live? I'm surprised it's made it this long. Must be a game day effect.

Well my last post on the subject. I like many of his products and I do not care for many of his products. I think many people do get slandered on this site and thats MY OPINION and I do not not ask for any agreement. It is obvious that if you disagree with a comment, many here will go for the juggler or sling the great four letter adjectives as their response. I stand by my thoughts and am certain that you all stand by yours and that the way it should be. The rest of the Rant and Droppings are just that. Yes, for sure I will continue to be a part of this page and post..it keeps the blood flowing. Enough said on the gumbo subject thank God!!

Thats ok, when in court the judge will taste some of that frozen $hit. Throw the case out along with some of the stuff he just tasted.

Then ask Flose, "Why do you put your name on that $hit?"....

People, leave the juggler alone. He didn't do anything.

You obviously have some sort of short in your brain. You cannot understand that you can have an opinion and express it, but that the rest of the folks here can do so as well. Opinions are not slander. GET THAT THROUGH YOUR SMALL BRAIN.

Accusing someone of slander is going for the juggler. Giving an opinion on frozen food is not.

John Folse Chicken and Sausage Gumbo
I read so much about bad frozen products on this site and often wonder if it is because so many of you are great cooks and measure the pre-prepared products as so inferior. I have often read many negative reviews on Chef Folse's frozen products when I know he would not produce or put his name on anything that is as bad as some of you have mention. Most frozen foods are designed to supply convienence and are meant to fill in the gap for the busy family or cook. To compare these products of any company to your own homemade is just not reasonable. Chef Folse is a great chef who has created many wonderful moments for most of us and has products in the market covering everything from soup, entrees, yogurts and ice creams to cheese and artisinal olive oil. He is extremely generous with his time and resources and has created some of the most sought after cookbooks in America. I am always saddened to see his name slandered on this rant and don't quite understand why. He is just like the rest of us who love Louisiana and it's great food and culture, the only difference is he represents us to the world and I for one am very proud to know him and buy his products. I am sure that he would love to know it personally if you have had a bad experience with his gumbo or other product so I do hope that you who did, take the time to tell him as you told us. He would probably ask to come over and cook a fresh batch of gumbo for you, thats the kind of man he appears to be to many of us who have met him.

This is the biggest load a crap I have read on this site in a long time and I also read the Rant so thats saying a lot.

No doubt your paycheck is signed by Folse.

I love his soup. Loved it when Walmart sold it.

I thought the flavor was fantastic. The only problem was that it had almost no meat. In all of the different soups, there was usually about 2 or 3 small pieces of meat or seafood.

Tasted great for store bought soup. Tell me a better store bought soup.

When somebody sells you a product and markets it, with their name on it. You have a level of expectation that it will be the quality that is associated with the brand.

On his items in the freezer case, there is no statement clarifying, that this product is "not supposed to be good, just a substitute".

I purchased last week, a bag of John Folse's chili with beans and found it so terribly sub-standard, that it can only qualify to be consumed as hot dog chili.

If you can't produce a quality product that people will enjoy for it's intended purpose, then you shouldn't produce it.

I'm sure Chef Folse is a fine person and his passion for Louisiana culture and cuisine needs no validation from anyone.

But this is a food board and the people who post here have high standards of taste with vast knowledge of the culinary arts. Nobody's slandering John Folse, but his frozen products can be taken to the dumpster to be consumed by cats for all I'm concerned.
