I love Joe Patti's and always stop on the way to the beach. Smoked Tuna dip, red snapper/grouper filets, and royal reds.

What am I missing? Have a good shrimp hook up in LA and don't need to buy them there. Just curious if I'm missing something I should be getting there.

Sushi.

Also, oysters, blue crabs, snow crabs, jumbo lump, lobster, trigger fish, flounder, yellow fin, scamp, clams, mussels etc. They also have some pretty good cheeses. The only thing I don't particularly care for is their shrimp. They keep them in cold water rather that on ice. Which makes them kinda water logged imo. I was there last week. Awesome place

I wouldn't plan on anything ahead of time, buy what looks best at the best price.

For example, they often have one grouper at a really good deal compared to the others.

My wife was there Saturday and got Swordfish at $12.99 a lb. That's a hell of a deal.

One of my favorite stops every year when I visit OB. We get lobsters from them and they steam them up for us as well when we visit. Roasted garlic spread on that freshly baked bread.....kills me!

I like the Harbor Docks recipe from Destin. It’s very simple. Hardest part is smoking the tuna.

Recipe link

1 quart water
1/4 cup salt
2 1/2 lbs. fresh yellowfin tuna
1 1/2 cups mayonnaise (can use more or less depending on your preferred consistency)
1 tablespoon black pepper
1 tablespoon garlic powder
Hot sauce to taste

Combine salt and water. Soak tuna steaks in a salt water brine for one hour before smoking. Transfer to a smoker and smoke until cooked through (do not overcook). Chop smoked tuna steaks to your desired consistency (rough chopped or finely chopped - Harbor Docks chops fine)

In a stainless steel mixing bowl, combine smoked tuna, mayonnaise, pepper and garlic powder and mix well. Harbor Docks doesn't use hot sauce in their recipe, but offers it tableside to be added for individual tastes.

Serve with crackers and pickles.

It’s a national treasure for sure. I love how you can get the fish cut any way you want as well. Flounder cut for stuffing is prime time. It’s a cool place to walk around outside as well.

I wish they would start shipping again. They haven't shipped for a very long time and the site still says they're working on finding a new shipping partner or something like that. We ordered pretty frequently.

Those knife wielding Asian women in the back breaking down whole fish like Ginsu warriors is quite the spectacle. I wish they'd let you sit there, drink beer and watch the show.

I’m not too shabby with a knife but when I watch the Asian women at Tony’s filet a fish and get every single millimeter of meat off the bones in one piece, I want to go home and cry feeling like I’ve accomplished nothing.
