Bringing in three Atlanta friends for Jazz Fest. Looking for great food and a festive/fun atmosphere for dinner one night.

We’re all in our upper 20s/early 30s. Which place would y’all go with? TIA

I'm big on Brigtsen's.

Intimate restaurant in an old house converted into a restaurant and the food is top notch.

Clancy's is the most "festive/fun" of those three. I'd put all three at about the same general level food-wise, with Gautreau's being a bit more refined, Brightsen's a bit more rustic, and Clancy's sort of in between.

I would probably pick Clancy’s or Brightsens for what you seem to be looking for.
Go ahead and make your reservations now.

I'm not sure what your definition of "festive/fun atmosphere" is.

Of the 3, Clancy's is the loudest at least downstairs. I've never eaten upstairs.

I'm a Brigsten's fan and I'd say it's in between the other two. It's not raucous.

I haven't been to Gautreau's in some years, but it was pretty quiet the times I've eaten there.

Can’t go wrong with any of them. Clancy’s is one of my favorites. Very good food, great wine list and bar service. Great atmosphere. Brigsten’s has food that is as good or better, but bar service and wine list is below average. Bad actually for a restaurant of its caliber. Gautreau’s is excellent, but more quiet and sedate. Someone check me on this, but didn’t it recently change ownership?

Just lively and upbeat. Not really sure tbh

I just called and Brigtsen’s is already full for that weekend. Clancy’s only accepts reservations a month out so setting a reminder to call them in a few weeks.

Thanks for the suggestions

I've never had a problem with bar service there. My drinks are always good drinks and delivered promptly.

Can't speak to the wine list as I'm not a big wine drinker.

If you strike out with the three you listed, maybe try Jacques-Imos. The food won’t be as good, but it will be lively/loud and probably at least half full of jazzfesters.

Good luck with that. I had an issue getting a reservation there for Easter weekend. Called the day I was told to call 30 days out and it had already filled up.

Do you have any back up restaurants in mind?

Lovely lol. But not really, down for suggestions.

Prefer uptown. Would like something similar in style + level of intimacy as the three mentioned. But not a deal breaker.

Uptown, fallbacks would be Patois, Avo or Lillete. Places like that. If you’re not adverse to Indian, I think Saffron has outstanding food.

To add to the back up suggestions, you might look at La Petite Grocery as well.

Another suggestion is Ye Olde College Inn. We have enjoyed every meal there. It's also pretty lively and would fit your atmosphere needs, though it's not terribly intimate. It's more along the lines of fun to me.

You should make a reservation now wherever you can and then you can give Clancy's a try on the given date.

One thing I've noticed about dining out during Jazzfest. It seems clear, a lot of out of towners load up with reservations beforehand, obviously not realizing how long and exhausting a full day out there can be, and how difficult logistically it can be to make a 7:00 dinner reservations, such that I've had decent luck just walking into a lot of places or calling at the last minute and getting in after a number of cancellations.

I'm not suggesting to bank on this, but just to realize restaurants that look "full" now, may not always be on the day of.

Three great places. You can’t go wrong with any of them. And they are off the beaten tourist path.

Is it still cool to hate on Jacque imo’s? It’s festive, fun and I always liked it. Have not been there in a while though

Jacque is very overpriced for what it is.
