Jasmine on the Bayou - Dinner Review - Grade: A!

Jasmine on the Bayou at 6101 Jones Creek, Suite A
Very small place (8 tables inside, 3 tables outside) - No Alchohol - Seafood, Pasta, Sandwiches
LINK
Wife, Son, and I went to dinner tonight:
Appetizers:
Rocket Shrimp - $7.95 - A+
(an absolute must when you go. If you have eaten Bang-Bang Shrimp at Bonefish Grill, its almost identical...maybe a little more spicy)
Chicken Sausage Gumbo - $4.95 - C
(Tastes like a beef broth stock, I dont care for beef stock in my gumbo - good color and thickness tho)
Entrees:
Chicken Orleans - $11.95 - A
(Grilled chicken breast topped with sauteed crawfish and tasso in creole cream sauce) Wifes entree, I tried it..we both agreed.
Pasta Jambalaya - $10.95 - B+
(Chicken, Sausage, bell peppers, white/purple onions sauteed in a similiar creole cream sauce over penne pasta) My entree, I liked it alot....but think the Orleans might have been a bit better.
Sides/Salads:
Cesear Salad (Cesear Dressing was on the side)
House Salad w/ Oil/Vinegar
Steamed Vegetables
Macaroni and Cheese
(these are all pretty self explanatory...no need to elaborate - they are what they are)
We walked out saying that we would both absolutely go back. Not sure they are gonna make it in this location....if they were on Perkins/Siegen/College/Government/Bluebonnet - it would already be a town favorite. Go by and try it....good stuff. Menu is online.

Yes this place is awesome. The have some kind of crab bisque soup or something that is out of this world. Rocket Shrimp is great. Try the stuffed begniets (very bad spelling)they are superb! The crawfish pasta is very good as well. Definitely a hidden secret in that section of town.

Do you know if they are open on Sunday?
Posted on 10/4/08 at 9:33 am to andouille
Where ya been, mentioned this place here months ago.
I eat there once a week.
Some dishes are just OK..But some are great.
But the best crab and corn Bisque I have ever had.
the grilled shrimp po-boy would be killer if they used a better french bread.

We just went on the recommendation of this board. Had a great lunch! Got:
Crabcakes - A+
Salads - D (dressings were terrible - generic buttermilk ranch and what seemed to be buttermilk Caesar)
Crawfish Pasta - A
Crawfish Etoufee - A
The service was great, very friendly waitress. We will definitely be going back!

I have had the crab and corn bisque once. It was too salty and spicy and there was very little crabmeat in it.

I tried this place tonight on your review. Very nice.
Wife had the grilled tuna salad, extremely tasty and done to perfection. I had the rocket shrimp poboy, spicy and full of shrimp.
We split the ice cream & brownie dessert, it was fresh baked and absolutely one of the best versions of this I have ever had.
This place can be a hidden treasure, it deserves a much better location.
Thanks for the recommendation.

i've been once...
had the crab and corn bisque and the crawfish pasta...the bisque was pretty good...the pasta was alright...
as far as it receiving an "A!"? i don't think it's deserving of an A...but definitely a B. i need to go back but just haven't had time...

Has anyone ordered anything off the catering menu? We were thinking of ordering, maybe, the boudin balls and mini crabcakes for our huge family Christmas dinner this Sunday.

I've gone 3 or 4 times now and I have to say this place is great. I keep telling more and more people about this place, in hopes of helping there business stay open.
The best I've found:
Crab and Corn Soup
Rocket Poboy sub. the fries for the Bayou Mac and Cheese
Great place and not to expensive. Friends are coming in this weekend from N.O., so I think I might bring them over there for the Rocket Shrimp.

I've written on here a few times about Jasmine's.
Went with the wife a week or so ago.
She actually didn't like the Rocket Shrimp(crazy woman). She was also meh on the Crab and corn bisque(again crazy woman).
She did get some kind of King Crab Salad and it was AWESOME.
I got the Chicken Orleans and it was very good.
