Is this cast iron worth salvaging?

Is this cast iron worth saving or is is it too far gone with rust and pitting? I've already put a good couple of hours of work into it. Slow going, so if the pitting is too bad I'll just forget about it.

just looks like surface rust to me i would use some fine steel wool to remove rust, wash it out then thoroughly dry it.
rub the whole pot with a lite coat of vegetable oil and heat in the oven @350 for about an hr

I found a Griswold that was a lot worse off than yours. I took a hand grinder with a soft wire brush and worked it over. Washed it well, dried in the oven. Let it cool, coated in vegetable oil and stuck it in my gas grill on high for an hour. Came out perfect.

BINGO!
It's not rocket surgery. People try to over complicate restoring cast iron, but it's actually very simple.

That pot is in decent shape and will clean up nicely if you do what others in this thread have recommended. A power drill and some wire brushes or a hand grinder and a few rounds of seasoning will preserve it for years to come.

That's not bad at all. You can save it very easily.
If you can get it to me, I'll take care of it for you.

You can restore it but that's not the old good cast iron. If that guy above wants to give you $40 for it take that and go buy a new one for $30

I wanna say that thing costed my uncle at least 70-100. It's too big to hit with steel wool. I'm gonna need to find a shop to bring it to or buy a hand grinder

Harbor Freight has cheap 4" grinders. Get a medium wire brush wheel for it and go to town.
