We will order takeout from Superior and get margaritas during happy hour. The trick is to place that order via phone before happy hour ends and you get that $18 margarita for $10.
To illustrate the food pricing at Superior, you can get two large margaritas for $20 during happy hour, and a pint of queso is $17.50.

No problem going to a nice restaurant and spending the exact same and those drinks are probably a half to a third the amount of the Superior margarita.

You think Eliza is using top shelf liquor in their menu cocktails?
It’s mid across the board. No different from Superior. People just like to hate while they cough up $15 for a rocks glass 3oz drink everywhere else.

I was offering the quality of liquor merely as a suggestion, not as a knock against superior

Those extra ingredients arent expensive.

Amaro Montenegro is a little more expensive than triple sec
I’m not really sure why this is a big deal - you like superior - good for you - I like it, too
It’s all mid

What about El Paso or Mi Padre’s?

Superior is garbage. The last 4 times we’ve eaten there it was disgusting. They think dunking everything in butter = Mexican food. It’s gross and my wife and I feel like shite after.
I like Mi Padres more than Superior.

Maybe so.
Most on this board seem to dine out at least semi regularly at nicer places where you see those $14+ rocks sized cocktails, but you almost never see complains about those drinks.
You see Superior margarita complaints here often.
Not a big deal either way. There's plenty price wise to complain about when it comes to Superior. No argument there.
We just had a chuckle last time we ordered margaritas at dinner elsewhere and it came in a short rocks glass filled with ice and was $14. You're seeing this a lot these days in middle/nicer restaurants. It seems like gone are the days of $6-$10 cocktails beyond a happy hour deal. At least at Superior there's a lot of it in my cup, haha.

To be fair, he's not off. However, every Mexican restaurant uses melted butter for their fajitas before serving. That's the whole trick to the sizzle. I remember my mom ordering them "dry" as a kid when she was dieting.
Butter is the trick to a lot of restaurant food. It isn't exclusive to Mexican food. Grilled chicken, fish dishes, etc. get a hefty squeeze of melted butter before serving. That's what makes restaurant food so delicious to people and why they often can't make it as good at home.

Always figured it was because those folks drink frozen margaritas and rarely order rocks margaritas at non-Mexican places.

I'm not a Superior fan, not necessarily a hater per se. I just think they're massively overrated. However, saying Mi Padres is better is straight up wrong.
