Used to eat there when at LSU. Just thinking about bringing my current female to eat there. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Still operating, and still delicious.

Thanks. Couldn't remember if I spelled it correctly. The ambience ( sp ) was fantastic. Like eating pasta in Castle Dracula served to you by an elderly black man wearing a tux. Fond memories.

Haha, yeah the darkness definitely adds to the experience.

Tell me about it. After that meal and wine and movie time on the couch a man could end up with children......

Yes sir....
Ate there Saturday night... still delicious, still don't want to see it with the lights on. Although, it was frickin hot in there. That window unit was struggling!
relatively cheap too considering.

Back in the day, you could slip one of the tall, black waiters a $5 bill and he would sing to your date. Was my go to place several times.

my parents ate there when they were at LSU.
I went once, and my crackhead waiter forgot my order at least 3x. Fortunately he forgot also to charge me for a couple of beers.
Personally I'd go to Gino's.

Or DiGiulios across the street. It's a good date place like OP sounds like he wants

I've eaten there maybe half a dozen times in the last 30+ years. Still waiting for a positive experience. Service usually sucked. Food was mediocre typically. Best thing I've had there was the lasagna. In another 5-10 years I'll probably give it another shot.

The lasagna is freaking incredible.
The sauce they use is great

Yes, but they usually close for a few weeks in the summer while the owners are in Europe. So it's a good idea to call ahead.

I like both Pinetta's and Monjunis. I prefer Monjunis red sauce, but can see how someone would rather Pinetta's.
Gino's is still the King though.
