Is Justine in the FQ shaping up to be a tourist trap?

Ate here for a 2nd time recently. First visit was underwhelming, but wanted to give it another shot. I came away with the same opinion on the 2nd visit

Found myself staring at the uninspiring menu again. Decided to try a steak. Cooked to correct temp but meat was so chewy. They use frozen fries but call them “frites”. I question the quality. Prices reflect a top notch product. Ate through practically the whole menu and nothing stood out

All that said, every table was full. Restaurant itself is beautiful. Service is good. I just can’t get over the menu and food

Any opinions?

I had the same impression. Place was beautiful. Service was great.

Food was average.

This seems to be what I hear from just about everyone.

I don't think they have hit their stride quite yet. I would like to see them expand the menu with some more creative dishes. I think it will happen.

Went once, and that was my impression.

I first went 3 days after they opened and again this past weekend. Nothing changed

They are missing the chance to hit a home run by continuing to serve that menu

Same, and I think Gianna falls into that same category.

Seems like it's working.

Tourists may love it.

It’s an absolutely gorgeous restaurant with a lot going on.

It’s definitely going for “a scene” type of place that girls want to instagram and definitely not the food.

Thanks for the update. I was looking forward to trying this place. I'm disappointed to hear that they aren't living up to the expectations. The frites had me excited.

I think it would be difficult to live up to the hype that was generated before they opened. When I spend $60 - 100 per person on food, wine, and cocktails; I want to leave there thinking that I could not make the dishes any better at home. From everyone's reviews, this doesn't seem to be happening.

Justine has been on my to-do list. Haven’t heard anything bad. Menu looks good, but I’m not shelling out $18 for a hamburger. I’d rather spend more money and get a signature dish.

Been a dozen times already. The daily’s have been really good. Had Prime Rib, Duck, Lamb Shank and Burger all exemplary. And yes the setting is top notch.

People really need to move beyond the thought that frozen fries are somehow worse than fresh. Pre-fried frozen fries are unequivocally better than fresh cut fries.

i wonder if he closed balise to put more attention to Justine's kitchen, because the feedback has been mediocre and deservedly so. The bone marrow and mashed potato dish was flat out awful and the burger was just ok. As cool as the space is, average food won't bring back repeat customers.

Every table was full of thicc Herbalife women of color this past weekend. Can’t speak on if it’s always full up

alright which one of you baws/bawsette called them out on their fries on Yelp?

"I'm not even gonna lie. Your fries are straight Sysco fries. %100 without a doubt. I mean yea Sysco fries are good, but for a wannabe French from scratch restaurant. Sysco fries.... really. Justin can do better than that. If he is even in the kitchen. Menu is garbage. Food is garbage. Garbage."

You really need to stop eating like a 9 year old. Let me guess, you ask for catsup too?

Thomas Keller uses frozen fries at Bouchon. There was a big deal made of it like a decade ago.
