Is a goose as good or better than turkey? Or worse?

Never cooked it and have eaten it once. Goose meat was darker, richer and probably more flavorful.

be advised, roasting a goose produces an amount of rendered fat that you haven’t seen before. Roast it on a rack over a deep pan and drain it once or twice (save for cooking potatoes)

I also imagine not many have had a perfectly cooked turkey either. It’s pretty damn great when brined, seasoned, and roasted.

And we’re comparing turkey and goose here so yeah, if given the choice of the two the vast majority would pick turkey.

I smoked one a few years ago. That was my first and last goose. It somehow managed to be dry and greasy at the same time. The meat was tough and had a strange taste I wasn't into. It had the added plus of being super expensive.

I guess it's possible I didn't cook it long enough. I know I brought it higher than 165 to render the fat. 180 or something. If you're going to do it I would recommend having some gravy or sauce on hand for sure.

To each his own but turkey is far superior IMO.

This. Everyone saying that goose is better than turkey have never eaten goose. It’s not.

Again what kind of goose? A smoked speckled belly “ribeye in the sky” breast sliced thin, is as good as filet mignon , most other wild geese (blues, snows, Canada’s , Ross, eagle eye, ) ain’t worth a shite unless you make bombs with them, I have never messed with a domestic goose and from the replies in this thread I won’t
