Dale's Pale Ale.

I like this as well, but it is clocked at 65 IBU versus 38 for the Sierra Nevada.

Plus Dale's Pale Ale isn't available here.

If the guy looking for IPAs to try makes it to Alabama though... Dale's and Bell's Two-Hearted are good beers to pick up.

Full Sail IPA is good easy intro after the PA, IMO.

I feel like I'm missing out on something or need to "break-in" my palette. Please suggest some IPA's for newb to try and if the glass type/temp makes a difference.

I agree, that not having a taste for IPA's limits your beer experience. Anytime someone asks for a good beer, but say they don't like hoppy beers, i am kind of stuck. All i got after that is stouts/porters.

My gateway Pale ale was Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. That along with Sam Adams Noble Pils. These 2 paved the way for my Hop appreciation. Now i am more of an IPA, Double IPA fan. Your palette will grow and appreciate more and more hop deliciousness.

Are you sure it isn't the other way around? I normally don't like it once it gets past 65, but enjoy Dale's Pale Ale for some reason. Guess it is balanced better. To me the SN is more bitter.

Funny how we are genetically disposed to reject bitter flavors... but now we love them so much.

Good advice. Deviant Dale's is awesome too. I also like West Coast IPA, Good People IPA, and Sweetwater IPA as well.

Which is why I stick to Keystone to avoid the bitter beer face.

Don't resort to that... I have some hop pellets you can chew on.

Yes, I looked them up. Dale's I got right from their site.

"Dale’s Pale Ale is a hearty (6.5% and 65 IBUs)"

Start with Stone IPA until your mouth begs for mercy, then blast it with Stone Ruination

It will thank you later, when you are so addicted you travel to the Hops Mecca on the west coast to feed your needs

Different hops usage and addition rates. You can have a high IBU beer and have it very mellow on hops. It's all about balance, hops used, and their addition times.

Grab a squatters hop rising while you are at it. It' a double IPA, but i find it has a great malt balance.

I am going to enjoy the Stone Ruination 10th Anniversary IPA tonight as well as the Clown Shoes Miracle IPA. Picked them both up today while at lunch at Matherne's on Bluebonnet.
