My daughter’s birthday is coming up and she would like Indian food. Wanted to see what restaurants the board would recommend. Thanks.

Saffron is the best. Very high end, smaller menu. Excellent place.

IMO, Nirvana is the best Indian restaurant in the city based on their food quality, consistency, plate portions, and over 100 menu options with 22 vegetarian dishes. Owned by the Keswani family who opened the first Indian restaurant (Taj Mahal - Metairie and Uptown Square) in the city 45 years ago.

The marinated & grilled lamb is easily the best lamb dish I’ve ever had. I usually order the chutney plate with samosas, saag paneer, lobster or shrimp biryani, butter chicken, and garlic naan. These dishes are shared between 3-4 people and I’m full.

Downtown location (300 block St. Charles) is still open. Decatur location closed (victim of eternal road construction).

Namaste (also downtown) is good but haven't been in a while

I second the Plume mention (Algiers Point)

My rankings of the standard fare:
Tumeric
Mantra
Ember
Aroma
Taj Mahal
Nirvana

Lufu - fancier classic
Saffron - Indian fusion

Tyler is from Boston? Doesn't talk like it. And I believe Merritt Coscia is from D.C or Baltimore.

He's definitely from the area, if not Boston proper. Maybe Worcester? I'm not certain.
