A fisherman friend gifted us some halibut, so I am thinking I'll do it in a lemon-caper sauce.

I don't ever cook fish, so I'm unsure of what veggies or sides would go best with that. Preferably something a little lighter, but open to any ideas.

Thoughts?

Avocado and cherry tomato salad. I like to cook the cherry tomatoes in with the fish and then spoon the tomatoes over the diced avocado. With a little bit of diced red onion.

My infamous Sweet Potato bites.
Peel and dice, place on foil lined baking dish, lightly coat with oil, sprinkle Cinnamon Sugar and bake for 30 uncovered. Add pats of butter and more Cinn Sugar bake till fork tender. Excellent accompaniment to any fish dish.

I tweaked this Bon Appetit recipe last week for dinner, and I thought it would go great with a piece of fish, especially with the lemon caper sauce idea you had. Instead of just lemon and yogurt, I made a traditional tzatziki with dill and cucumber, which I think really added to the dish overall.

I saw that when you posted it last week. It looks so up my alley, flavor wise. Thanks for the link.

roast broccoli or brussels sprouts at high heat. Toss with a little bacon grease about halfway through cooking. Let them crisp up a bit before removing.

Oven roasted potatos

Cube some red potatos about 3/4", cover them with a light coat of olive oil, season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and herb de province. Bake at 450 for 15-20 minutes or until soft.
