I'm not that old, but HATE them. I go to a resturant to relax and enjoy time with my wife....the first thing I wanna do is not open, fiddle with snd scroll through my phone. I know I'm still looking at a paper menu, but it feels different when I have to use my phone

I've never seen a restaurant with a better online menu than paper menu.

How many restauranteurs are also great information architects and graphic designers? In my experience, zero.

A paper menu is at least five times larger than a phone screen, usally with a clear hierarchical layout of metadata, sections, headings, subheadings, captions, and prices, which the eye can easily assimilate at a glance.

Ah, there it is. It saves them money and is easier to update the menu.

Some of you get upset at the strangest things. I've literally never thought twice about using a QR code menu.

I know you said your hate was irrational, but I really want to know WHY. What drives this hatred towards a specific type of menu?

If there was ever a thread that encapsulates just how out of touch and self entitled the average American is, this is it.

Talk about first world, white people problems.

All of this!!!

I’ve literally never given a second’s thought to QR code menus until this thread.

But now that I have, I like them.

I’m young and dislike them as well. Way too often, they don’t load properly or I’m dealing with a dying phone after work.

I rationally hate them. My level of ire is what’s irrational.

I hate them because I genuinely dislike scrolling on my phone, or any screen, when I need to read something.

I’d much rather print out reports, essays, articles to read and edit them than read it on a small or medium sized screen.

Secondly, especially if I get the occasional date with my wife (two young kids), I want my and her phones away the entire meal. That’s why

Is there some reason you or your wife are not capable of putting the no home away after you order?

That’s what we do. It isn’t difficult

I'm a big fan of them. I especially like the ones that have pictures with them.

To be fair, some restaurants send you to a setup where each menu category is on a separate link and there's a lot of flipping back and forth.

For something like sushi where you're ordering 20+ pieces of different fish and small plates, it gets to be a lot flipping through.

QR code doesn't bother me personally, but it varies from place to place as far as how user friendly it is. And like someone else mentioned, there have been times nothing will load.

And forget dining with old people. My dad holds his phone 10ft away from him trying to see his XL texts. My mom has to dig for her readers. My grandmother doesn't even know how to get to her phone camera.

If you're doing multiple rounds of courses, your phone is getting referred back to throughout the meal. Which is, again, not a huge deal. But I personally like being able to glance down at the menu and that be it.
