Well, except Lima beans - but I actually like those too but no one else does
I don't like lima beans either. Something about the texture when my momma cooked them that just turned me against them - gritty - and I've held a grudge all these years!

This was on the table every time we had white beans growing up. I think it was a substitute for chow chow.

Agreed. They seam to be more creamy which I really prefer.

Then you have never had good red beans.

I like them all, but it's hard to beat white beans along side smothered deer steak.

I guess it says a lot that the worst thing about my marriage is she doesn't eat beans. I love them but I rarely cook them since she won't touch them. One of my favorites is large lima beans with a hambone in it. They are super mild and buttery. I smother down round steaks and top a plate full of rice with both the beans and the gravy.

I grew up eating red beans, but for some weird reasons, I lived with my grandmother for about 6 months during my senior year of high school (and for another year or so off and on after). She always made beans and sausage with northern beans, and I always thought they were so much creamier, so that’s how I’ve always made them. One of many things that the old lady taught me until she passed on 1/9 of last year. God rest her soul.
