How hot is it...am I going to die?

I loves me some heat, but I'm wondering if this stuff will be over the top. I have a chance to exchange it.

I add cayenne to it It's a good starting point though.

My cousin tried it and died. But beforehand his right eye bulged completely out of its socket and his tongue ruptured. Terrible deal. I’m surprised they still even sell it.

Yes.
But not from the Zatrarain's and hopefully no time soon.

You'll be fine. It just means you won't have to add as much additional spice to it.

A long long time ago (sounds like a Don McLean song), I was Quality and Product Development Manager for a McCormick Spices Vendor in Alabama. We approached them about developing a line of shrimp and crab boil products, and at their request (they were too busy) I developed three crab boil products for them

1. New England (old bay) style
2. New Orleans Style (Zatarain's based)
3. Hot New Orleans Style (Zatarain's with more heat added)

As far as I know, They still sell them - my blend, my box, so I think I did OK.

Trust me, it is possible to make a Shrimp and Crab Boil bag with tons more heat than the Hot Zatarian's product.

You will be fine and as a bonus, it may help open your sinuses.

It has about the same spice level as regular Louisiana to me. Just more expensive.

I do not find these "extra spicy" or "pro boil" packages to be much different than the normal product.
