I hate when I find a spot. I love the spot. I support the spot and it goes under.

Pour one out for Em Trai sandwich Co. In Metairie. The BEST banh mi this side of the river or canal.
Also had Roti and Bao. Had beef brisket Pho, banh mi fries, Buffalo banh mi, bang bang, all the good stuff and the classics.
I went 2-3 times a month.
Bums me out.

If they had put crushed Lay's on their sandwich and charged $9 more they would still be around.

I miss Andy’s in Metairie. I refuse to tru the three B’s place that replaced it, even though i think its the same ownership.

It was Off the Hook in Baton Rouge for me. Fresh whole gulf fish. Was too good to be true.

Well that's good news if it's the same place. Before I left Baton Rouge, their only location on Airline had closed.

Agree. Went to Em Trai for first time a few weeks ago and loved it. Convinced my wife to pick up food from there last Saturday, only to find it permanently closed.

did anyone find out why they closed? He smoked his brisket. The brisket tacos were fiya.

Different place. The original Off the Hook was owned by a poster that had a really good selection of fresh local fish. The place you are thinking about is a fast food seafood restaurant that originates from the Bayou.

Not a great location. Kind of hidden in a strip mall. Food was good but the atmosphere of the place was depressing.

He used to be in the St Roch market. I found him when he called me to fix his stand mixer. I like Bao and had it there. Then he moved to St Claude in his own space. Then covid hit and he moved to Metairie.
I just like that he blended so many American flavors with Vietnamese ingredients. Similar to Banh Mi Boys yet different.
No where else could you get a Roti with Bang Bang shrimp along with a Bao with Buffalo Chicken and blue cheese.

That describes most Vietnamese spots. Almost always tucked off in a strip mall in a bad spot. That's every Pho Bang, Dong Phong is 25 minutes deep into the East, the Pho Orchids are probably the best located. The other hip Vietnamese sandwich shop is attached to a gas station.
But you had to rant be looking for it to find it. The place there before it was Bears Poboys. Most people will say Bears had the best roast beef poboy and they couldn't keep going in that spot
I think most people driving there are more worried about avoiding the traffic jam caused by Chick fil a.

This makes sense for a 90 year old driving a car.

What I mean is. To get to this place you need to be in the right lane. But a little over a block before is the Chick fil a. So if you see the line of cards in the right lane. You get over to the middle or left. Then you look again and you passed the place.

They have a store front on one of the most bustling parts of Magazine st now. Albeit it is a cluster frick on the inside, but it’s there
