How well would a Flying Saucer do in BR or NOLA?

Would kill in BR IMO.
Not sure about NOLA. Location would be key.

It may be too late for them to get their foot in the door. There's already the Chimes, Londoner, and BR seems to love their Skin Peeks.
I would take a Flying Saucer over all of these.

Only been to the one in downtown Houston. Can't knock the beer selection, which is fantastic, but the place itself is grimey. Not in a Parlays/dive bar kind of way, in a Chili's kind of way. My only gripe. If you put one in Metry (away from the Bulldogs and Avenue Pub) near one of the malls I bet it would do really well. You could probably also put it somewhere downtown and grab the tourist crowd pretty hard too.

New Orleans might work. But, you've got a lot of competition. I actually think it would do well if you put it someplace close to the Superdome (I think it would take over Walk Ons business). You've got to remember, New Orleans has Avenue Pub, two Bulldog's, Cooter Browns, Finns, etc.

You've got that Lagers place, but it might work.

I've noticed that the eye quality of the waitstaff in Houston has diminished over the years. I'm really not into Hooters or Skin Peeks because I'm there more for the beer and not the scenery, but there are simply some people that, well...to put it politely...don't look quite so good in short skirts and knee high socks.
It was also one of the few places Downtown that had a pinball machine until they took it out.

I wish BR would get a Flying Saucer. There were rumors they were looking at the old Caterie spot. That would have killed the Bulldog and Ivars

Love the beer selection. Hate the atmosphere. The loudest bar/restaurant I've ever been to. I hate yell-talking with my friends.

Wouldn't work
because of La's silly beer laws, there wouldn't be enough beers to support it
if something like that came along, it would just have the same ole stuff as Bulldog, Chimes, and the Cove and such.....

Took the words right out of my mouth. If they opened one in BR it would be another bar with 20 bad beer taps, 20 meh beer taps, and two excellent rotating taps.

How does ol girl at Avenue get it done? She always has an excellent selection that's always changing.

Ivars has been around so long and bulldog with its Nola roots... I doubt either would get put out of business by a flying saucer.

I dunno, but it's by far one of the best selections in the state...

Yet you can get a drive thru daiquiri...
I've always assumed the weird beer laws stem from Miller/Bud/Coors having a good lobby in the state house.

I forgot about this aspect. Even if a Flying Saucer were to open, I wouldn't be able to take part in half of the beers I would use the venue for in the first place.
...and yes, you can get a drive through daiquiri and a single can of beer on ice at the checkout of a gas station, but forget about being able to obtain certain quality craft beers.
At least I'm able to purchase clothing on Sundays.

I thought a Flying Saucer was opening in the soon to be former Reginelli's uptown?
