I cooked a pulled pork for Monday’s game and have a pretty good amount still in the fridge in a ziplock bag.

First off, should the meat still be safe after 5 days?

Second, what’s the best way to reheat it? I have an oven, sous vis, Big green egg, instapot and a normal crockpot. Which would be the better choice? Should I put apple juice in the bag? Apple cider vinegar? Just water?

Appreciate the help.

Ehh, you're pretty much at the line I believe.

I would eat it

sous vis
Only way. And you don't need a machine to do it. You could do it on the stove.

Well I am feeding a bunch of friends so the real question is would you feed it to others?

As far as sous vie, should I add liquids in the bag? I don’t have drippings since it was a long cook on the egg.

Microwave covered with a wet paper towel. Holds in the moisture. You don't have to do anything more than that.

If you refrigerated it quickly and didn't take it out a bunch this week, and have a good cold fridge, I think you are fine.

You could put a little apple juice in there. Maybe some apple cider vinegar like you said.

Heat to 165?

Would I be able to taste if it is going bad or is this more of a “you just get food poisoning” type thing?

I put it in the ziploc right after the game and haven’t opened it all week.

In a nonstick pan, press and get it nice and crisp. Atleast that’s how I usually do it

Now that's an excellent way to prepare pork carnitas. I've got a great recipe and I do that on an outdoor griddler.

3 days if my threshold before vacuum sealing and freezing, but even that isn’t to code (I don’t think). That’s just what I’m comfortable with

Unless it has spoiled by several days/weeks, you probably won’t notice a smell/taste, especially on precooked meat.

With pulled pork reheating I usually add in bbq sauce. It’s just safer than dried pork. Right off the smoker nekked

If I'm reheating a large batch, I reheat in the oven. If I'm doing just a few servings I'll put it in a skillet

Update: Went the sous vis route with a a bit of apple cider vinegar. Everyone is alive today so 5 days may have been pushing it, but it was A OK.

Most cooked meat is like 3-4 days in the fridge so I don't know why I got downvoted so hard for suggesting 5 might be pushing it.

No wonder people here get the runs from taco Bell and chipotle. Probably pushing out their week old leftover steak from the night before.

I leave food in the fridge for a week before tossing/freezing. Been doing that my whole life and I'm still alive. And its never affected my stomach's ability to handle Taco Bell.

Pulled pork I keep for 7 days. If it’s sealed well you are fine
