How To Bake A Whole Frozen Turkey

I went to buy my thanksgiving turkey today and all they had were turkeys that are frozen solid. Do I need to bake it hot and fast to thaw it quickly? Or low and slow for a few hours and risk the skin being a little bit chewy?

If it’s frozen, don’t attempt to cook it.

Just fry it. It's the only way to cook a frozen turkey at the last minute. Season the oil like a crawfish boil since you can't inject a frozen turkey.

Lol, keep it in room temp water for about 3-4 hours until thawed. Spatchcock and Dry brine it over night in fridge. Season it with everything but salt tomorrow. And bake, smoke, etc. Hope you aren't eating early.

Microwave it. 35 min. for every lb

It sucks when this Thanksgiving holiday just sneaks up on you.
I wish they would pick a more permanent date so we could plan better.

Yes I bought one of these “fresh” turkeys. In reality it was a frozen turkey that was half thawed out.

Put it in your sink in cold water for several hours. Make sure the water is cold. It will thaw out enough to cook.

Pop that frozen bad boy in a 400 degree oven an hour before service. You’ll be the hero of Thanksgiving forever.

LOL at that clip of the fried turkey pot catching on fire. One Thanksgiving morning we were attempting to do that but it was drizzling. We thought it would be a good idea to move the project in to the garage. When we put the turkey in something like that happened, thankfully on a smaller scale. That was years ago and we still have the grease stain on the ground. I prefer my turkeys baked anyway.

This is the way, but to add to it, put it in the largest mixing bowl you have and leave water dripping over it overflowing the bowl in the sink. It will regulate the temp and speed up the thawing with the constant change in water. You can thaw a solid frozen bird in a few hours this way, and it's just as safe as 3 days in the fridge.
If your really worries, get a hacksaw and cut out the backbone to spatchcock it now.

I think I will just rub some butter on it and 275 overnight. It should be ok in the morning. I’ll crisp up the skin at 500 for a few minutes tomorrow if necessary. Thanks guys!

This. Also, make sure you add more oil than normal. Post vids on YouTube, TikTok, etc
