I haven't been but the wife wants to go there while we're in NOLA this month.

Anything the board recommends from the menu?

That makes me almost as mad as the $22 Bun Bo Hue at Mopho which was terrible.

Yeah no kidding. I find the prices on the menu a bit high across the board, but I guess that's what you get in The Quarter.

What MB said. I've had 2 great meals there in the past 6 months. It's a great spot to go before a show at the Saenger or the Mahalia Jackson.

It is a very good restaurant.

However, I have not been there since the last chef left a few months back.

I have a hard time believing anyone in the city is making a better tartare than Peche, but please report back with your findings

My wife wanted a 'French Restaurant'...don't think I could have reserved a spot at Peche and pulled that off.

you might be right, or....one of the original owners' uncle was from Meaux.....I forget, but I did ask about this very thing back in 2009 when I first ate there.

The menu prices do trend on the high side (haven't been in 2-3 yrs).

Meauxbar is not my most favorite place in Nola, but is on my preferred list for that area of town, especially if you are seeing a play at the Mahalia Jackson Theater, which is across the street on Rampart, and this place makes for a nice pre-play or post-play destination.

The original family homestead is in Meaux. The chef and owner grew up in Abbeville.

He is my uncle and I worked as sous chef from 2005 to 2010.

New ownership now. Still a great place for a meal in NOLA. But expensive for the portion size.

Great choice for that part of town. It's not a top 5 restaurant for Nola but the food is good and it's a good atmosphere
