How does Godfather’s rank for you as a national pizza chain?

It’s my favorite, and there’s not a single location in the entire state of Louisiana anymore. Why can’t it make it here? Is it that bad compared to Papa Johns, Pizza Hut, Dominos, Little Caesar’s, Hungry Howies, and the like?
I know I’m probably in the minority of ranking them #1, but are they really that bad to everyone to not have one single location in the state?

I have not eaten Godfather's in ages, so IDK.

Use to love to go eat at the one in Terrytown probably late 80s and playing the arcade games. I haven’t been to one in years though, don’t even remember what they taste like.
Speaking of vanishing pizza franchises, Pizza Inn in Buras with their buffet was probably my childhood favorite though. Beat TMNT there after my uncle gave me and my cousin a fortune to beat it.

What I remember is thinking it had to be delicious but was actually just meh. I always liked Mr Gatti's better back then.

Godfather's was great back in the 80'-90's. I used to go to the one in Oak Ridge shopping center in Marrero on Lapalco Blvd. They all closed but made a comeback with a few locations about 15 years ago. The new product was not nearly as good as the old and they failed.

I love Godfathers, but haven't had it since they disappeared in BR/P-ville. I love their "Hot Stuff" pizza, and their chocolate chip dessert pizza is the best dessert pizza I've ever had. It's definitely better than the other ones you mentioned.

Pretty sure they just opened a Godfather's Pizza near my parent's house in North Bossier.

I used to think it was much better than all those places you mentioned. The quality of the pizza restaurants in the New Orleans area has improved tremendously in the last 10 - 15 years. I am spoiled for the good stuff. I don't go to the fast food chains anymore.

Used to have one in the Ellic. It was my favorite, couple pitchers of beer, 5lb combo pizza, all was right with the world...

i think the cost of making it is what killed them.
i recall they always overdid the cheese and toppings, which made them the best, but the stuff on it also tasted better/fresher as well and not just about having more.
i think in the end they just could not compete with the "meh" just average pizza places at much lower cost, and that is what hurt them the most in my mind.
i didnt mind paying more for a better pizza but many would rather eat junk pizza if its cheaper, also im not sure but i dont think they did delivery, i dont recall them having delivery any way.

My best-ever chain pizza came from Godfather. I ordered one about 1030 one night, and it didn't come. After 2 hours and multiple calls, the manager shows up with a deluxe pizza he made himself. It was hot and perfectly balanced. I wish they always came that way.

Wish they had one in the new orleans/ Metairie area.

It was my favorite chain pizza, when it was in Baton Rouge. Consistent, too.

My favorite as well. See them every once in a while while travelling, in combo with truck stops. Just have the personal size tho

Was the best in town when they were here

I thought they went out of business.
The last one in New Orleans area closed around 2001.

I don’t remember the last time I’ve eaten a pizza from one of the national chains. Has to be around 20 years.

They have quite a few in the Midwest. We ate there twice in Omaha during the World Series.

Pretty goddamn high, but mostly for nostalgic reasons.
I believe they have three locations in Mobile, Alabama. From Baton Rouge, it makes for a nice, single day road trip.
