jesus it's a steak not beef wellington. just season it a little and cook it a little.

I don't use a grill grate. I heat up lump charcoal and put the steak directly on the red hot coals. Use Kosher salt liberally on the meat beforehand. Cook about 3 minutes each side. Out of this world! This method is called caveman steaks. YouTuBe it. You'll see.
Lump charcoal produces very little ash.

Not exactly sure salting a steak "tenderizes" it, but plenty of literature about the benefits of dry brining

cast iron on blistering, 40 seconds each side, then into the oven at 500 for 2 minutes each side. perfect bloody rare.

I set a fresh cut down on the counter, salt and pepper it, allow it to sit until room temp, then stick it between a pair of 34DD tits until my boner explodes
