$17 for a one meat plate?
Wow.
Wow.

Looks like tweaked menu already, removing the plate options. All a la carte.
Obviously, the rent in Houston is way more than the Brenham spot, so just the facts here with the menus.

Brisket at $23/lbs is ludicrous.
Lolz at charging for an extra slice of bread.

Looks like I’ll just stick to Pit Room and Feges.

The one thing I like on the new menu is that it doesn't say Saturday only for the beef rib.

Holy shite that is absurd

To be fair, La BBQ has a pound of brisket for $20 and salt lick is I believe $22, so $23 isn’t that far off. Especially when you account for the location in the heart of Houston.
That said, salt lick is and will forever be my end all be all behind the original coopers in Llano.
There’s nothing quite as spiritual than enjoying world class beef and pork in a historical Texas town off the beaten path.

quote:The a la carte meat price is about what you'd expect, most places around $20/lb for brisket. But it's the lack of plate options that includes sides that makes this a more expensive endeavor than the peers.

Feges is also $20/lb for brisket, but the value is in the plates.
Meat Plates
ONE MEAT PLATE + 2 sides 12
TWO MEAT PLATE + 2 sides 16
THREE MEAT PLATE + 2 sides 20
Having said all this, I'll still be at Truth this weekend.

hard to believe no mention of Buck's BBQ on this thread.
Can't wait to try Truth, but I'm not standing in line for anything except free beer.

Yea that's at a minimum $14 or so for a good lunch. 1/3 pound with a side or two
That's serious $

How much do you typically spend on lunch?
I feel like if I'm eating anywhere that isn't fast food, it's going to be around that much at a minimum.

I mean i would eat half a pound and 2 sides, which is about $20. Minimum some places is like 8-10 in Dallas. Not all of course

Lot of people in line for expensive BBQ, myself included. Ha.
Just rode my bike over. Hoped to get here at 1030 for a better place in line but had to fix my bike a bit and got here at 1055.

Still in line? How was it?
Posted on 1/26/19 at 2:12 pm to weskarl
I got in line at 10:55. Doors opened at 11. Got my food at 11:40.
Beef rib was awesome. Brisket very good, but would be hard to say better than what Feges been putting out lately. Actually prefer Feges collard greens over these.
Spent $46 on lunch, admittedly ordered a lot, 1 beef rib and 1/4lb brisket, but that's high.
When I left at 1220pm, they still had beef ribs, so that's good. I know at Brenham, they used to only have 24 beef ribs each Saturday. Definitely more smoker capacity here.

Passed right in front of there on Friday. I had never heard of Truth BBQ but was shocked to see the parking lot packed!
Actually I had driven down Heights Blvd looking for the great Hickory Hollow. I was equally shocked to find they closed that location and moved to the Sam Houston Racetrack area. I suppose Truth will be getting a lot of Hickory Hollow traffic.

I don’t think many people were going to Hickory Hollow for BBQ...chicken fried steak most definitely.

quote:for sure. Hickory's smoked meat not even close to comparable to Truth and the like. But good CFS
