I know there has been a few threads on Houston but just wondering what's hot right now. Wife and I will be making a little weekend trip in September. We like just about everything.

I'm sure we will mostly be downtown but I'm not opposed to going across town for the right food, regardless of how huge Houston is.

I browsed the Eater Essential and Heatmap and these are a few that got my attention. Any recommendations from this list?

Theodore Rex
Riel
Paulies
Weight & Measures
Pondicheri
Nobies
BCN
Calle Onze
Nancy's Hustle

Skip Weights & Measures and Paulie’s.

Riel, Nancy’s Hustle, Nobie’s are great spots.

I’d suggest trying to secure a Sunday brunch reservation at Hugo’s or Caracol.

Coltivare, The Pit Room, Goode Company Kitchen and Cantina are others that should be worth a look.

Heights area has been opening a bunch of new places. Hard for me to keep up. BCK is next on my list.

Chinatown if you want Asian.

hit up Justin Yu's joints - Theodore Rex and Better Luck Tomorrow (more casual setting)

Paul Qui's 'Aqui' is damn near up there among my favorite restaurants in the city

and you've got your chinatown staples

all visitors need to hit up chinatown, imo

get the beef rib at Pit Room. Its worth the money.
Pork tacos are legit as well. Charo Beans are off the chart- for such a common, pedestrian side dish.
didn't care for the cold brewed iced tea.

Xochi was as good as it was hyped on here. What I would call "an experience" and well worth it. Palomas go down way too easy.

What's good here...was opened without much fan fare (guess that's what happens when you get yaked up and beat your girlfriend) and lately I don't see many cars in the parking lot.

Pondicheri is the best Indian food i've ever had.

Nobie's is legit

i'd look at Hugo's as well as The Pass & Provisions, too. both are top notch.

Maison Pucha in the Heights. I wrote a review recently and posted some pics. Search on here.

Edit: same for Riel

Are you suggesting it's bad or Just not a stop for a visitor?

I will fight you if you say it's bad

The move at the pit room is to sub the white bread for tortillas. God damn those tortillas are good
