Heading to Houston a for a couple days without the kids, any recommendations for a nice dinner? Have very little experience In the Houston food scene....

Looking at steakhouses like Brenner’s on the bayou, papa bro’s or Taste of Texas. Any of these worth the trip?

I would recommend Georgia James

Based on what you said, look into B&B Butcher

You seem like a man of fine taste. Have you had the pleasure of alpo or Ole Roy?

If you’re wanting to go the steakhouse route...Georgia James or Pappas Brother’s would be fine.

If you’re more adventurous...Nancy’s Hustle, Nobie’s, UBPreserv, Riel.

Maybe not a great suggestion if you're coming from LA, but I'm excited to try One Fifth Gulf Coast soon.

Georgia James is pretty great. Bring a couple friends if you have any in the area and get the baller board. You'll get awesome classic steakhouse stuff but plenty of non-traditional things too.

Backstreet Cafe, Brenner's on the bayou, Taste of Texas are great date night choices!

I was disappointed by 1/5 Gulf Coast...maybe because I expected more from Chris Shepherd given the fact that UBPreserv is so great, or maybe because I judge the style of food Shepherd is doing at 1/5 a little harder putting it against places like Peche.

BBQ Shrimp and the Gulf catch were the two standouts of the 5-6 dishes we shared.

We've enjoyed Brenner's on the Bayou. Great atmosphere for date night.

Agree w Brenners on the Bayou for date night atmosphere and great steaks. Not so much with Taste of Texas - big, loud and usually lots of families w kids on the weekends.

Pappas Bros was one of our top date night choices but the last couple of visits, the chef/grill guy went crazy w the salt.

Sit at the chef’s table at Damien’s in downtown. It’s literally in the kitchen and they give you some cooking lessons. It’s awesome for a date.

Maybe it’s just me, but I was a bit disappointed with the steaks at Brenner’s on the Bayou the one time we went. The atmosphere was very nice.

Steaks and other nice stuff we’ve done Del Frisco’s once for a date and loved the food. Only problem is it’s now owned by that a-hole Rocket’s owner who’s kissing Commie China’s arse, so not sure if I personally want to spend money there anymore.

Backstreet Cafe is a great outdoor setting, and perfect timing with cooler temperatures rolling in this weekend. Get several different appetizers to try out.

Something a bit different than typical date night fancy food setting...Street Food Thia Market off N Main and Cavalcade is awesome.

The weather is going to be great for patio dining. Reserve a rooftop table at B&B Butchers for a date night view of the downtown skyline. Brenner's on the Bayou serves Landry's corporate trash.

Agree with B&B but for a out of town date night, Brenners is a solid choice for the atmosphere and setting. You can get a decent meal there but it is expensive for what it is.

Eddie V's and Kirby's are places that don't get mentioned that are just as nice for date nights.

There are too many great places in this city to go to a place that is “expensive for what it is”.

Brenners, Damiens...don’t waste your time.
