Wow -- all I gotta say is that this place is seriously legit. Best BBQ shrimp I've ever had -- better than Mr. B's, Emerils, Pascal Manale, you name it. Also had the red bean omelet w/ pickled peppers, served with green onion cheese grits and "choked" hash browns -- everything was awesome. Headed back tomorrow

I recall the owner/chef winning the King of Seafood title, or something similar. It's never on my driving schedule, but I'd damn near swim the river to get to that omelet.

I think I heard on this site that the owner is expanding into New Orleans taking over the old Sun Ray Grill in the warehouse district.
Has this affected their food quality lately.

I've been there a couple of times -- I just wasn't crazy about the food. We got charbroiled oysters and they had this glop of salty sauce on it. I wanted to like the place. I think it's the seasoning mix they put on everything -- there's a pepper or something in it that just doesn't taste good to me.

Not the owner... based on their business and reviews, I certainly don't think they need any fake props on TD. We stopped on our way from BR to Marksville and liked it so much we're stopping again tomorrow on our way back.

I've heard it's very good.
Despise the name though. Sounds like a little shack that sells sacks of crawfish.. Doesn't seem to match the actual vibe of the place.

No. That's what I'm saying. It seems like a sit down restaurant with a variety of entrees from everything I see about it.. But the name sounds like a drive thru crawfish hut. 
Not that the name really matters. Just have always hated it when I hear the place talked about.

Everything taste the same. If you can't cook with ingredients that enhance the food's natural flavors, you are just cover it with spices. I won't be back.

If you ever find yourself in the area, its definitely worth a visit. Its not fancy, but the food is pretty damn good. Would I drive from BR to eat there? Probably not. But that's more to do with the distance than the food.
Hell, theres a tragic little place called Bueche's Bar on the Island side of the river that has some of the best char grilled oysters I ever eaten. But it is the epitome of "hole-in-the-wall". Good groceries though.
