forgot to try my NEIPA last night. I will try it when i get home. Fined my 2 Pale Ales this morning with gelatin.

I know yall are against transferring to a serving keg but i think im going to do it because there is a good chance these kegs will be moved throughout the day st patty's day. i dont want that material to continue to be disturbed.

Do what makes you happy. I'll just say after about 2 or 3 pours, whatever sediment is at the bottom of the keg is no longer there.

yea but i get kinda greedy when it comes to transferring from carboy to keg and sometimes put up a little too much gunk from the bottom. when after 2 pours the area around the tube will be free, when i move the keg it might disturb the rest of it and i will be drinking cloudy beer all day.

what is the next realist move when you upgrade from carboys. are there cheap conical options?

i understand but without looking at price i would rather something to ferment both 5 and 10 gallon batches. but i bet the 10-12 gallon one is outrageous. you are getting a good pull of clear beer out off the trub? Every time i try to tell myself to stop before i pull up trub in my siphon but i get greedy and disturb it and pull in gunk.

I'd be all over the the Catalyst Fermentation System if it wasn't $200. Looks like a great option to easily harvest yeast.

with hoie cheap plastics are you would think you should be able to buy these 6-12 gallon plastic vessels for CHEAP, and make your own stand and put your own vales on it.

Yes. The elbow can be turned from the outside, so I start with the elbow facing straight up in the vessel, then turn it downward to stay just below the surface.

How well does the rotating arm work? No leaks, easy to turn? Does the whole valve turn or is the rotating arm separate?

It is awkward at first but you get used to it. the entire valve rotates. I have never had a leak but I changed out the O rings that came with it to something a little or more beefy.

Good to here, I may have to pull the trigger on the little 3.5 gallon one.

And, again, thanks for the beer, very tasty brew.

I popped a top on my NEIPA last night and they're still under carbed, I'm hoping a few more days will fix that. The taste is decent, definitely not as hoppy as I'd hoped but it wasn't too bad. I went ahead and brewed another NEIPA last night, and I'm about doubling the dry hop additions on this one.

Update: Just ordered a Catalyst Fermentation System from Northern Brewer. 20% off coupon code came in the e-mail today, so I got it for $160.

i got one when Midwest knocked $50 off for black friday. I really like it. Dumping trub and harvesting yeast is simple and bottling is much easier. Never having to move the beer to a different vessel is really nice too.

What's the size comparison of one of those in the stand. I ferment most of our stuff in a mini fridge. Normal car boys and buckets fit just fine is it about that size?
