Topiramate. I've read some horror stories on side effects, but mine have been mild so far. Migraine-fighting efficacy hasn't been great for me, so we'll see. As for the beer thing, it makes all carbonated beverages taste flat.

Amarillo saison? I tried to make one a long while back and had so-so results, but I blame that years crop of Amarillo. I feel like you gave me an Amarillo something or other way back that was good.

I've never brewed with them but got an email the other day and they were on clearance. I'm not supper picky with hops, since I don't really go big with hops. I just remember Amarillo always being sold out back in the day when I was brewing more frequently.

I'm just going with a really simple farmhouse to get back in the swing of things - 2 row, Wheat, Oats, fresh grapefruit rind and Amarillo.

you remember how it's done?

I was given all the stuff needed to make a 2-tap jockey box for use when we have folks over to the new pool, so it looks like I'll be doing that in the future.

My wife, out of the blue, decided she now likes IPAs, so the last one I made lasted less than 4 weeks. I'm not interested in brewing once a month to keep some on tap!

A euro-trash craft beer tour guide would be a nice job.

Btw has anyone had a heady topper? I would love to try it and Pliny, but obviously those don't make it this way. For those of you who have tried it, how does it compare to the juice bombs around now?

Heady is almost malty compared to juice bombs now. Pliny is a west coast ipa and is devine.

Yeah, and Heady actually has some bitterness, which is nice. It's not west coast bitter, but it's not super soft like most of the modern hazy IPAs.

Not really

My wife did get me a proper 10 gallon brew kettle but it won't be here for another couple of days. So my return to brewing has briefly been delayed.

Has much in homebrew thinking changed over the last few years? I haven't kept up with anything and am going totally off my folded handwritten notes that are inside my copy of Farmhouse Ales by Phil Markowski. Only problem, I can't find my copy of it now that we have unpacked from the move...

I took advantage of the hops direct sale and picked up a lb of citra, lb of cascade, 8oz amarillo, and 8oz columbus. Looks like I am brewing a lot more pale ales and IPAs. With shipping $44. A lot better than $4 an oz I was paying from LHBS

What do you know about lactose and milkshakes?

But no, nothing in your world has changed.

I pulled the trigger on 2lbs of Citra, 1lb of Amarillo and 1lb of Idaho for $60 total. Hopefully, the quality is good because their prices are excellent.

Sodium Metabisulfite

I've been using potassium metabisulfite for years, since I use unfiltered tap water. When we moved out here I pulled a couple of years of publicly available water data and put the avgs into my water calculator. Overall, I was pretty happy with the profile and just needed to correct for the free chlorine and chloramine.

So I'm looking to get a fermentation chamber to improve my homebrew quality. Not ready to invest in kegging with freezers being so expensive right now. I found a dedicated beverage cooler on CL that is 5.1cuft capable of getting down to 37 degrees for cold crashing. Shelves are easily removable. The seller ordered from HD and received this one with cracked glass and got another as a replacement. Therefore she wants to sell this one for $150. I'm confident I could offer $100 or $125. Add an inkbird for ale ferm temps and I'm looking at a fermentation chamber that I don't have to Frankenstein together for $150. What do you guys think?

Sounds similar to the wine/beverage cooler I got. Mine is the vissani wine fridge. Can easily fit up to 5 gallon fermenter in it.

I shorted across the thermostat and use a wifi plug to turn it on an off (homemade inkbird).

Only downside is it doesn't hold temp that long. Right now I've got a keg in it at 48. It's total cycle time is about 20-30 mins - 10 mins on and 20 mins off.

I paid $50 for mine off CL.
