Northern brewer saison extract

Thinking about getting this kit. If I wanted to secondary ferment this with an adjunct I could, right?

Not a great time for brewing saisons. They like it hot.

Depends. A few if the Belgian saison strains like it hot , but other strains can easily achieve good fermentation and flavor profiles at 75 and less. 3711, White labs saison III, and Danstar belle saison are ones off the top of my head that I know can easily work cool.

It's Louisiana. You can brew saisons up until mid-december unless the weather starts to actually act like responsible weather.

3711 is what comes with the kit. Fermenting temps will be 72-76

Brewed some mead with a couple of bums this afternoon. I must say, the mead they served was not very good We had an enjoyable time none the less

Will malty aroma fade over time? I tried my farmhouse ale yesterday and the aroma is malt bomb overload and not in a good way. Back when I brewed it I gave the guy at the homebrew shop my grain bill and it had like .25 or .5 caramunich and they milled up 1.5 lbs.

I didn't make a big deal at the time and figured the beer would still be fine. The flavor isn't bad at all but the aroma is just so overpowering at this point that it is almost undrinkable.

I would assume, with time, it will fade or mellow, like with most anything with homebrewing.

Getting my mash water up to temps

Mashing in my grains

Temp was about 2.5 degrees off, added extra 3/4 gallons boiling water to bring up the temps to target

OK, I've been asking awhile but I'm gonna bite the bullet....

What is the best starter kit for home brewing? I'm trying to stay under 200 because if I hate it I may never do it again

I wanna go and purchase one this weekend and give it a whirl during the week.
