Wow, talk about getting as complicated as you want. The last couple of pages are making my head hurt. I always aim for 7 gallons. Then transfer using a scoop and stop when what's left in the kettle looks thick and full of hops.

seems alright. Says it'll hold 3 kegs which is nice but the tower is only two faucets.

It's official. I'll be brewing another lager tomorrow. Figure I'll be able to set it in the snow bank to get down to pitching temps.

I'm sure it would be great. I think you can save a lot of money to make your own from an old fridge or chest freezer. And you can customize it to have more taps or be able to cold crash beer before kegging.

I can tell you I'm so happy to have moved from bottling to kegging. I'll pull off a couple bottles from the keg, for sharing. But I also serve beer at races and other events, and the kegs are so much easier for that. Killed two kegs at the race we put on this weekend. That's how you share your beer with people.

I'm having no luck finding a fridge. I hope I don't have to bottle this pale ale

I see deals on chest freezers at HD and Lowes all of the time it seems. Might end up spending 200 but you'll have a brand new big chest freezer.

Update to the new New Orleans brew club we're trying to get going. Had a few beers with another couple of brewers and I think we're a go. We were planning on having another meeting tonight, but that might not happen with the weather.

Working club name is Swamp Rat and initial meeting place will be 12 Mile Limit in Midcity. If any of y'all know any New Orleans brewers who are looking for a club, tell them to hit me up at <--@ gmail

thanks for looking out, but I don't want to go the chest freezer, or any freezer, route.

There are a lot of resale and used crap shops around here, I just need to put more effort into checking them out

Just mashed in on a Bohemian Pilsner. All Saaz hops. From BCS. Hit 154 pretty perfectly inside my kitchen.

I started to get stuff together for a brew session, then bailed on that idea with how chilly it was and the fact that the hoses are already frozen over. I am going to assume that I will not be going to work tomorrow and will brew tomorrow after the rain stops.

Pliny Clone is in the works. So a big DIPA. Two crazy hoppy beers will be on tap at the house for the first time I believe ever. Crazy.

I'll be there in two-three weeks.

Come on. If I can get off the couch I will rebuild my kegerator today. Problem is that my bar is un-insulated from the outside, so it is cold as shite out there.

That reminds me, I probably should bring my cellar inside and the kegs of beer that I dont want to freeze.

Damn that's fast...

Did you pitch on the yeast from your pils?

Sure did. Keith mentioned that the first generation fermentation wasn't the best for a lager regardless of how big the starter was so I took advantage of this snow day and re-brewed. WLP830

When you guys reuse yeast are you pitching directly on the yeast in the carboy you fermented the previous beer or are you washing the yeast and repitching in a new carboy?

So far I'm just racking one beer out of the carboy and racking the new one on top of that cake.

Immediately?

Or can you keep it a while before reusing it?

I only attempt this if I'm planning things out thoroughly. I think yeast washing would allow you to keep old yeast around for a longer period of time.

I do it immediately, that way I can ensure the least amount of exposure to the air.

I decided to brave the elements and brew today. Pliny clone come right up.
