Tried to get rez at Maison Lecouer for this weekend but they’re booked up.

Need something fine dining, intimate, with good drinks

And not a steak house. If I choose we always end up eating steaks so gotta come up with something better.

Looking for something besides the usual suspects.

I was going to say Maison Lacour but Cocha is also a good option. I can't believe ML is booked up this early. Happy to hear they're staying busy.

Would a short road trip to say Nuvolari's in Mandeville be ground-ruled out?

Is not what it was. There are like 10 other places on the northshore that are worth a trip though.

Beausoleil might not be exactly what you're looking for, but it was always a good date spot for us.

bluemoons - thanks for the update.

My wife and I dined there like a decade ago and it was fantastic. Sorry if it declined. The Northshore has some beautiful areas and restaurants to go with it. If I lived in BR and was considering a 10th anniversary site, it would be on my radar.

It's better since they got a new chef.

For sure - not trying to sound overly negative. It just bums me out a bit because I used to love going there, and based on my last 2 times there, I wouldn't go back. I have heard that it got better with the new chef, but the whole experience has been bad - service, food, pricing for what they serve, etc. Maybe I'll give it another chance one day.

Maison Lacour would've been my #1 choice, by the way.

Cocha and Colonel's Club would be my second and third suggestions after Maison Lacour.

I think I’m gonna try Colonel’s club. Shared this w the wife and that’s what she came away with. Said Cocha looked cool but didn’t like the menu as much.

Thanks for the help dudes.

I had to book a table for two on a Friday for Maison lacour 7 weeks in advance.

Booked on Feb 5th for a table on March 28th.

They have scaled back operations, and I believe it is only the husband-and-wife duo working any given night

Ill suggest French Market Bistro on highland, as a place to consider

They also have a great bar/lounge area if you want to make it more of an event and show up a bit before your reservation.
